We've all seen them; those adverts for secret formulas or miracle treatments promising to do things which no-one and nothing else could possible achieve. The late night infommercial which addictively sucks us into watching and even believing their sales pitch. So how is it possible to separate the "real deal" from the fake?
Well generally if it does sound too good to be true, it generally is. But there are a few products out there which can make a difference and don't cost the earth. Here is a few of them and when you begin to understand the facts behind their workings, it becomes far easier to "buy in" to their claims.
All of these products of methods are designed specifically for preventing or removing stretch marks - an area in which the majority of the adult population suffers from in some form or another. It's not just pregnant mothers who have to suffer stretch marks, but men and women of all shapes and sizes.
The first and perhaps most popular product is Bio-Oil. There has been a huge amount of press in the last couple of years and by and large, those which have used it have been delighted with the results. Whilst it is perhaps best know for scar treatments, the vitamin complexes found in the product can also be a superb preventative method for stretch mark formation.
Even after the stretch marks have formed, it is widely reported that this product can be used to effectively reduce their appearance - even on old stretch marks. Furthermore, because it doesn't cost a lot to buy, the downsides of using Bio-Oil are really not that great.
A similar product is coconut oil. Again this is a low cost method which has seen a lot of positive reviews. It is however far more effective BEFORE the stretch marks are formed. This means that for the majority of people, it is far to late in the day to be using this product on already formed marks.
For this reason it is far more popular with expectant mothers who are perhaps most certain of the impending stretching of the skin.
The final product, much different to the previous two, although a superb compliment to them, is skin needling. This is a process rather than a product, usually delivered using a Dermaroller or Dr Roller.
Skin Needling is a fairly new concept which has seen celebrity endorsements rising (most recently Angelina Jolie) as they become more and more mainstream and affordable.
Skin needling is basically a process of collagen induction therapy which stimulates the collagen formation within the stretch marks which in turn causes them to fade. Popular results have shown that it is possible to get rid of stretch marks in under a month using the skin needling process.
There are of cause other ways of getting rid of and preventing stretch marks - most of which are very expensive and perhaps not as effective. Whilst everyone is able to find a method which is suitable to them, it is worth checking out these low cost methods before going onto those "too good to be true" products which cost more and work less!
