With an ever increasing interest in skin needling, colloquially referred to as dermarolling, there is naturally a growing number of companies and brands providing their own versions of these simple yet effective devices.
To many, it is difficult to work out what the differences between all these brands are; especially as many online resources claim theirs to be the "best" and only alternative. The key to choosing between all of these is to understand the pros and cons of different systems so that you are able to make your own mind up based on simple rules which are universal between all brands of skin roller.
It is worth saying from the outset, that all skin needling devices will to the greater extent, produce exactly the same results. At the very simplest level, all skin needling involves is running a series of micro needles over the skins surface, penetrating the very outer layers of the skin. It stands to reason that, based on the fact that all rollers basically follow the same general design, that there is going to be very little difference in the outcome of rolling one set of needles compared to another.
The main difference between dermaroller brands therefore, lies in the quality of the needles which affects both the strength and longevity of each device as well as the comfort levels of using one roller over another.
Some skin needling brands are designed to last much longer than others. This is achieved by changing the mix of the materials which make up the needles construction. Whilst most skin needling devices are manufactured with a medical grade stainless steel, others may include specialist materials such as a Titanium which add strength and rigity to needles. This in turn mean that the needles themselves should last much longer than on other brands.
Secondly, there is a direct correlation between the width of the needles and comfort during rolling. Considering that the purpose of skin needing is to penetrate the upper layers of skin, having a narrower, finer needle design is going to penetrate more accurately and with less trauma than a needle which is of a lower quality (thicker needles)
It is worth baring in mind that there is also a balance between these two parameters - narrower needles are more likely to be weaker and vice-versa. Furthermore, narrower, higher quality needles are also more expensive. These three factors of price, needle strength and narrowness, together make up the largest considerations when choosing between dermaroller brands.
The best way to choose between rollers therefore, is to consider where on your body it is you wish to roll. For sensitive areas (such as the face) it is sensible to consider narrower, more expensive needles. The amount of surface you will be rolling in these instances is very small and the strength and longevity of the needles is a less important factor. For less sensitive areas, (the thighs, stomach etc) strength of needles is more important as you will need to roll a much larger area.
Other than these factors, things such as build quality, roller design and other qualitative issues make up minor details which may affect your purchase decision. By having an understanding of how all these factors interact, you will be in a far better position to make sure you choose the right skin needling brand for your specific needs. It is worthwhile too, seeking out a source which offers the widest range of derma roller brands as possible so that you are given unbiased advice as well being given a wider reaching choice of skin roller features.
For the last few years, there has been a constantly increasing interest in skin needling and the Ultramod Group has been at the heart of this rise. By bringing a larger selection of dermaroller brands to the market, it is possible to give people unbiased advice about each device, giving customers the chance to make their own minds up about what is the right choice of roller for their individual needs.
