The ambition to look good and stay healthy is not for women alone. Men also appreciate skin that is healthy, clean, and youthful because it is a valuable tool for success and self confidence. Many skin care cosmetics that were once considered for only women have now become unisex. There are also skin care product lines marketed toward men in particular. Everyone wants to look and feel terrific; and a good skin care regime is an important part of the goal.

A man's complexion is different than a woman's, and it requires its own special care. Men's skin has larger pores and will produce approximately 15% more oil. So, men actually do get dirtier than women. It is best to clean the face on a regular basis to eliminate dirt, grime, and environmental pollutants that can clog the pores and make the skin appear dull. Following a regular skin care regime will keep the pores clear and maintain healthy, younger looking skin.

A good skin care routine for men should include cleansing, shaving, toner/aftershave, and moisturizing. The first step is cleansing the skin, and this should be done prior to shaving. After shaving, use a tonique aftershave that includes alpha hydroxyl or glycolic acid as an ingredient. This will reduce the size of the pores and help avoid ingrown hairs.

Once the skin has been cleansed and toned, the final step is moisturizing the face. This is important to avoid dry skin, which can increase the appearance of lines and wrinkles. Be sure to rub the moisturizer into the neck area too. When spending a lot of time outdoors, it is also a good idea to use a moisturizer with sun screen.

Men will also benefit from facial exfoliants, or scrubs. They help slough off dead skin cells and keep pores clear. This sloughing action smoothes and clarifies the complexion. Since men have considerably rougher skin due to frequent shaving and razor use, exfoliation is a great addition to their skin care regime. Exfoliating should be done at least once per week.

Facial masques can also be helpful for either gender. Men often get skin irritation, burns and bumps from shaving. Facial masques are designed to soothe and heal the skin. Using a facial masque once or twice a week will dramatically increase the elasticity and health of the skin.

Using skin care products containing natural ingredients is important. Just as prescription drugs can be delivered through our skin via a patch - other body care products are also absorbed by the skin. When using products made with chemical preservatives, these chemicals may be absorbed into the body. On the other hand, the body will absorb all natural ingredients when using organic and natural products. Therefore, organic and all natural skin care products are highly recommended.

Skin care is not for women alone; men benefit from good skin as well. Men also appreciate skin that is healthy, clean, and youthful because it is a valuable tool for success and self confidence. Men's skin is not exactly like women's, and requires its own special care. Everyone is interested in feeling and looking good, and a quality skin care regime is an important part of the goal.
