With this tough economy and rough time, retaining your customers is a big challenge for any business. This has become more or less a worldwide issue and every day we learn some new ways to deal with that.
You too must have noticed that every business is desperately working hard to retain its customer base. But obviously every business ends up with different success rate. If you study businesses with higher success rate, you might want to acknowledge credit to some of their great ideas. They are:
(1) Stay positive:
The basic difference between an ordinary person and a warrior is that a warrior takes everything as a challenge while an ordinary person takes everything either as a blessing or curse. If you want to be a part of the solution, you need to think little differently. Even if you do not get the desired results, it is not the end of world. Don't get panic, stay cool and calm. You need to stay positive.
(2) Be innovative:
The telecommunication technology revolution has made this world like a small market place and this has great effects on neck cutting competitive trends of the market. In this customer driven economy, it has become so much important to be able to offer their need based products and services at most competitive prices. It should be ongoing process to keep looking for new ideas, products, and services that help you not only retain your existing clients but get new clients as well.
(3) Know your customers:
How frequently you interact with your clients? It is a great idea to keep an eye on their growth and changing needs. Make sure you have best mechanism to regularly interact with your clients. Grab every small occasion to speak to customer. Give them a feeling that you really care for them. A little but most rewarding thing!
(4) Listen to your customers:
How effectively you listen to your customers? It is great tool to post some survey or suggestion box on your webpage or workplace. Please thankfully acknowledge your frequent visitors. Listen to your customers and always welcome constructive criticism. At times, you might not be able to help them, but remember, if you listen to them, the issue do not get aggravated and out of control. Be a great listener.
(5) Be Proactive:
Keep watching what's going on around and study the future trends. Follow the trend makers (with due caution) of your business industry. Keep regularly reviewing your business plans but don't change them too often. Based upon your customers suggestions and survey, if there are some areas that you can improve, do your best to make that happen in a timely fashion. This shows your commitments to your clients and your willingness to adapt in the face of challenges.
(6) Keep up your promises:
Please always remember that when customers buy your products and services, they feel that they are investing in you and your promises about your products and services. You must make sure that your customers get nothing less than what was promised. Through strict quality control, make sure that you always and always come up to fulfill the promises given to your customers. Carefully handle the exceptions to watch your clients come back.
(7) Market Presence:
You market presence should be felt regularly, and without any interruptions.
(8) Excellent Customer Service:
It is simply not enough to get customers in: you must make them want to come back to do business with you again and again. You can do this only with excellent customer service. Your customers must see your care, concern, commitment, and willingness to help them achieve their goals. You must personalize their buying experience in such a way that it rewardingly and clearly distinguish you separate from your competitors. Things like offering simple thank you note to your returning customers, small non-monetary rewards to your supporting customers, and greeting them on their achievements, sometimes make big difference. This is endless list and you can do wonders.
(9) Work as a team:
Please make sure to educate and involve all your employees in this mission. Your customer should be able to get the same level of comfort and commitment from any member of your team. Acknowledge the good work and make them do that over and over again.
