We are finally realizing what our consumption of electricity is actually doing to our planet. Not every one can afford to take their homes completely out of the loop there are small things you can do to reduce your dependency on fossil fuel produced energy. Landscaping using a solar fountain is one of them. Not everyone realizes how the solar fountains are designed to function. If you are on of these people read on to get a better idea of how they work.

The fact that they need no electricity is the biggest reason to use them. You can build your solar fountain as far away from the house as you'd like without having to worry about how you will power it. You will not have to install a new power outlet. Nor have unsightly power chords marring the view of your landscape.

The solar fountains are powered by pump that has photovoltaic cells. These cells are there to collect and store the energy of the sun. Most store only enough energy to provide for the stunning daytime display from a fountain. The energy requirements for a solar fountain are very high and to run one at night would take a very large power cell unit.

These fountains are very easy to install and only needs to be setup in a place that gets consistent sunlight. The fountains generally come with at the very least fifteen feet of chord. You can mount them on a wall or be clever and use them as a part of the landscaping design. If your sunlight strength changes from area to area you may just want to keep the panels mobile. Sometimes, rain barrels are used in conjunction with solar fountains to create a total eco-friendly garden.

Most people tend to believe that the use of water fountains is strictly a summertime affair but you can use them year round. The wintertime has days whose sunlight strength rivals the summer and if you are in a snow covered area the reflected light adds to the bounty. As long as the temperature is not below freezing your fountain can flow.

Solar fountains can be inexpensive. You can purchase one for as little as $20.00 and at the high end you can expect to pay several hundred dollars. Being able to enjoy the beauty of a solar fountain any time of the year without having to add to the electrical bill. You can find them in a variety of styles to fit into any landscaping schemes.

Amy C. invites you to browse delightful collection of solar fountains and rain barrels to create an ecological and sustainable garden decor.
