Communicating With Your Online Singles: Dealing With Miscommunication And Clarifying Issues

Communication is the main life source of an online relationship. In fact in all kinds of relationship, communication is the key to making it a successful one. Communicating with your online singles allows you to get to know each other better. It allows you to share thoughts, express feelings, and fix issues. Seeing how important communication is, one must also know what the barriers are to communication.

Communication has several barriers that can prevent you from communicating with your online dating singles. They block the true meaning of the message to get through to the other person. This causes misunderstandings and might even go to the extent that it delivers the wrong messages. Most of the time, misunderstandings happen during arguments because it is a defense mechanism to save oneself from getting hurt from the real message that the other person is trying to say. As important as communication is to a relationship, it is also important that a couple try to resolve communication barriers that may arise as soon as they do. Ignoring barriers and waiting for them to resolve themselves is not a good approach to solving anything.

When miscommunication happens because of communication barriers, the best thing that you can do is to talk to your partner about what the issue really is. Don't beat around the bush and don't try to mask anything with flowery words or flattery. Talk about your issues like two mature adults and try to work things out.

Try to ask your macthes what they meant by something that you didn't understand the real meaning of. If they said something in their e-mail that bothered you or disturbed you, then ask them what they truly mean about it. That way, they get to explain their side and you can invite a more open communication between the both of you.

Similarly, if they ask something about the meaning of several things that you've said or mentioned, then explain what you truly mean in a simple and straightforward manner. If they ask more questions, then answer the ones that you feel comfortable answering.

If you feel that some questions are already too personal and not really related to the issue, then you can choose not to answer, especially if you think it may compromise your privacy. Likewise, don't force them to answer things that they are not ready to divulge yet. This doesn't mean that you don't trust each other or are not open to each other, rather it's just good to keep some things back so that you can still have some new things that you can reveal later as the relationship goes along. As they say, don't lay out all your cards on the table at once. However, make sure that you reveal the cards that are important to making your relationship stronger.
