Stopping An Online Dating Bad Habit: "What If The Next Click Is Better Than This Single?"

Have you ever gone to a buffet with your match from online dating, where everything looked so delicious that you had to try everything on the table even though you're already full? Sometimes, online dating gives that same kind of craving. That same kind of dissatisfaction with what you already have, and go for the things that you haven't tried yet.

This is a bad habit that online singles need to stop doing. If this has developed in you already, then try to stop it as soon as possible. Like right now. But how do you stop this?

ANSWER: Try to get satisfaction.

One of the disruptive habits that may develop in online dating is that people can't get satisfaction, and not because there aren't some great Italian Singles on the site, but because they keep moving to another person, thinking that they'll find someone better than the one they currently have.

To give an analogy, when you put a child in a roomful of toys, he would surely not spend too much time on one toy but would go around to play with as many toys as he can. He is aware that he has so many options, so he won't waste time on playing with just one toy. He would go around playing with other toys because he will think, "What if there's a better toy out there than the one I am playing with?" But if you put him in a room with only one kind of toy, like say a truck, then of course, he'd spend time playing with the truck longer than when there are other toys around.

The vast sea of possible singles to date can pose the same role as a roomful of toys. That's basically the possible (not saying that it's unavoidable though) problem that can be encountered in online dating. When you get used to the idea that there are thousands of other singles available out there, sometimes, it becomes difficult to stick to one person even when you feel like you have already found the best match for you. Your mind will keep thinking "What if the next click is better?" or "What if that other guy/girl is a better catch than the one I'm dating?" And because it's easy to access those other people, then the possibly beautiful Internet relationship that you could have built with the present date can be ruined because of infidelity. Mind you, unfaithfulness has the same destructive effect on a relationship online as it does offline.
