Valentines is coming up! Are you excited? Or feeling a tad bit apprehensive?
Understandably, many single parents have mixed feelings about this day. Well, not only single parents, but all singles that imagine themselves as being surrounded by couples acting all lovey-dovey.
So does this mean that all the single parents should go and hide in their rooms and just let this day pass? I don't think so. Being a single parent should not hinder you from having fun; don't feel frustrated or depressed. Instead of doing that, why not look beyond the commercialization and worldly trappings of Valentines Day and try to make it into a memorable day for you or for your kids? Here, we'll present two options.
First, redefine your meaning of Valentines and make it special for yourself and your children. Who says that the Day of Hearts HAS to be the "eros" kind of love? You can make it into a special event for you and your child, a kind of bonding moment for you guys.
How? Well, why not do something fun and creative together? If you're a dab hand in the kitchen, try cooking your dinner together. Or if not, bake a special Valentines cake for dessert. You can also make Valentines cards for each other. Make them together, but tell your kids that the card has to be a bit secret and you would open them together and read the contents after dinner on Valentines Day. Not only do these activities divert your attention from an otherwise potentially lonely day, but it also allows you to spend precious moments with your children.
And lastly, if you're one of those single parents who actually do NOT want to stay single on Valentines Day, why not join up an online dating site on that day? It would mark a special day of your life: the day when you decide for yourself that you want and need a partner in life, and that you are taking that first step into getting that desire.
If the dating scene overwhelms you, and you can't seem to find it in yourself to get into all the hassle of finding a date because you don't want to lose precious time with your kids or you don't want to risk a blind date with someone, then online dating is the perfect choice for you! Being a single parent, more likely than not, your schedule would be a bit on the haphazard side, so lurking in bars or going out on fixed dates by your family or friends, is just not a practical option. With online dating, you don't have to go anywhere but just a few feet to your computer, and there you are: connected with lots of people who are willing to get to know you. Who knows, one of those people might just be the one you are looking for. And he might just be a click away. Isn't that exciting?
Of course, you can also mix the two options together and take that first step to finding a new love, while having fun with your kids. If you want a head start with your love life you can head on over and click our Dating for Parents site and start clicking and having fun. See you on Valentines Day at => http://www.SingleMummy.com
