So you want to create wealth. Why? Why do you really want to be wealthy? Too often we hear that it's selfish to focus on becoming rich. Wealth creation has a negative connotation associated with it. Some people refer to "dirty money." Others imply that people get rich only by exploiting others. Some individuals will even question your integrity and motivation for merely thinking about creating wealth.
Recently I've been re-reading the book, The Science of Getting Rich, by Wallace D. Wattles, a man with a different perspective on wealth creation. Wattles states that, "The desire for riches is simply the capacity for larger life seeking fulfillment. Every desire is the effort of an unexpressed possibility to come into action. It is power seeking to manifest which causes desire. That which makes you want more money is the same as that which makes the plant grow; it is life seeking fuller expression."
Wattles also asserts that God wants you to get rich so that "he can express himself better through you if you have plenty of things to use in giving him expression." This is such a radical perspective. The more money you have the more avenues you have for God to express himself through you.
Furthermore, when you are wealthy you can more easily help people in need. For example, I just heard that a friend's daughter was granted a Gates Millennium Scholarship which covers her university education up to the PhD level. Consider the impact a gesture of this magnitude will have on a person's life chances. It does - she's Cornell bound!
Having amassed your wealth, what difference could you make in the world? What causes are you passionate about? What problems do you want to solve? So as you look at other wealth creating options, think about where you want to make an indelible mark.
Take some time to focus on the solution. Think it through to its logical conclusion. What would be the outcome? Visualize yourself making that significant contribution to your chosen organization. What emotions will you experience in making that memorable presentation? Write about them in your journal.
Who are the wealthy people you admire? Is it Oprah Winfrey, Robert Kiyosaki or someone else? Focus on their attributes. If you are visual, have their pictures in view.
Go to places - hotels, restaurants where rich people socialize. Absorb their energy. Be imaginative. Create the scene. Rub shoulders with the HAVES. The playing field is now level. You are their equal.
As you concentrate on what you are now creating in your life, innovative and original ideas flood your mind. Soon this will be your reality. Envision yourself as an exceptionally affluent person who will make a significant difference in your world. Take the limits off. Amass the wealth. Change your world!
