Gamers have now witnessed the unveiling of probably one the most vastly anticipated games of the decade; Final Fantasy XIII. This title was really first teased at way long ago in 2006, so the lengthy journey to launch has been overwhelming. Well, that wait is at last over and we can all sit down to surely what is going to be the videogame release of the last few years.
Released in December over in Japan, Final Fantasy XIII has truly amassed just a little controversy since its unveling, and the reviews obtained for the title have not quite been the full aces producers Square Enix were hoping for. The main reason for this being that Final Fantasy XIII has somewhat considerably revised the basic gameplay associated with the series, and certainly the RPG style as a whole. They have dropped NPCs, interactive cities and an immediately open world.
As an alternative, Final Fantasy XIII is much more linear and storyline driven. Players comply with quite a tightly set route for the initial 25 hours or so of gaming. Following this, the gameplay branches out and gamers are free to observe their very own choices a bit more. This has been a significant gripe for some, yet others welcome the more direct and cinematic approach. It really does depend on your preference.
One aspect which has been universally commended is the combat system, which comprises an impressive mesh of X and XII. Players are actually able to 'stack' attacks, and the more you'll be able to stack will increase as you level up. Moreover, in Final Fantasy XIII there are various different roles your heroes can play, including healer and tank, and gamers are free to shift these roles during fights.
It's a forgone conclusion that the graphics on this title are awesome. Presentation has at all times been Square Enix's crux, and the series has always supplied high range graphics. As the first of the series to hit the next gen consoles, Final Fantasy XIII is, surely, the prettiest looking videogame ever. The FMVs are so detailed and beautiful you will need to stare at them for hours, and the in-game graphics are good enough to rival the FMVs of lesser games.
Add an undoubtedly epic storyline, and you've got the most important title of the year. It may be a little different to what you're familiar with, yet overall Final Fantasy XIII is simply what everyone's been ready for. Masterful combat, achingly beautiful graphics and a promised 60+ hours of gameplay mean Final Fantasy is back with a vengeance. Let the journey get underway.
