If you are considering moving to a new home, Kent could be the place for you. Kent is one of the Home Counties in the South East of England, bordering Surrey and East Sussex and Essex. . It has miles of coastal line with places such as Dover, a key shipping location to France and on to Europe, Folkestone and picturesque towns such as Whitstable. Kent is diverse in its towns. It has very large towns and conurbations such as Maidstone and Ashford and smaller, more historic places such as Royal Tunbridge Wells, Rochester and the very beautiful Canterbury. Maidstone is the County Town of Kent and is ideal for shopping.

There are a wide range of new developments in Kent to choose from in all kinds of locations that would suit families, professionals and singles, and the areas can be very different, depending on what your lifestyle and work style is. There are so many locations to choose from when considering which part of Kent to move to. The builders of the many new developments in Kent that have sprung up have taken advantage of the suitable areas that Kent provides for residents as well as the good living locations.

The coastline is an extensive one, stretching from the south coast of Kent through to the east and north coast of the county, and includes a wealth of popular seaside destinations including Deal, Hastings, Margate, Hythe, Broadstairs and Herne Bay to name just a few. Historically, the Kent coast has played a very important part in wars because of its strategic position to France and on to Europe. Kent was a key strategic defence point for the Napoleonic and World Wars I and II. Chatham in Kent was also a key strategic, military and naval base. Situated on the Medway, the dockyard is now a maritime museum. At Chatham there is a rope walk, founded in the 1700s and is the only place left in the UK that still makes lengths of sea rope commercially. Chatham's rope walk is over 1,100 feet long.

Kent is also a very rural region, the Kent Downs covers an amazing quarter of the county. The Kent Downs was also named an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in the 1960s. Kent is also named `The Garden of England' because of its agricultural background and association with hops and fruit.

So considering Kent for a new move is a very viable option and it has a wealth of new houses to choose from. Kent offers a great incentive for new residents, including great destinations for holidays and day trips, historic towns and sites to visit and rural peace and quiet for walking and outdoor pursuits.

What House? is a leading property website portal that features hundreds of new houses in Kent. For more information see http://www.whathouse.co.uk/new-homes-search?keys=kent
