Did you know that the Farmer's Almanac is predicting a colder than usual winter throughout most of the country? I've never really understood how that particular book works, but many people swear by it as much as they believe that the groundhog can foretell the onset of spring. Nevertheless, whether we get a frigid winter or not, we know that we're going to have to deal with cold weather in the next few months. People who live in the northern part of the country cannot understand how people from the tropical regions of the south get so upset when the mercury drops .
To the people from the north, a very cold night in Florida can seem to be just like a balmy afternoon. They say that it has a lot to do with what you're used to. Is it true that your blood is "thin" when you live in a semi-tropical environment for most of the time? Assuming that it's all relative, we know that we can be affected by cold weather wherever we live. What's your first line of defense? Typically, it's to make sure that your house is winterized and is ready for those colder conditions. First thing that you need to do is to stop the draft, if you have one, and there are several different ways to look at this.
You may think that you need to stop the draft because it is annoying when you're trying to sit down and enjoy a meal or watch television. More so than that, it is certainly wasting a lot of expensive heat, so you need to see exactly where the draft is emanating from.
When you have discovered where the draft comes from, an easy way of dealing with it is to use an absorbent sock. These are made from polypropylene and are stuffed with corn cob. It may sound like a very basic invention, but it is very absorbent and you won't have to deal with the draft any more if you choose this solution. You shouldn't think twice about getting a selection of these effective draft proofing socks. The cost is nothing compared to what you are likely to save by eliminating wasteful loss of air, or cold air infiltrating an area that has been warmed just to your liking. Let's face it, when you have an annoying air leak, it doesn't matter whether you live in Florida or Alaska, all you want to do is stop the draft.
