Management of diabetes is paramount whether you have Type 1 or Type 2 diabetes. You can't simply ignore it and hope it goes away. It isn't going to go away, and if you don't manage your diabetes and manage it well, it can kill you. Oh, diabetes is never listed as the cause of death, but it is very often listed as the underlying cause or a contributing factor to death.

What if you are diagnosed with diabetes? Are you going to stay indoors and just inject yourself with insulin everyday? Maybe you need to understand the facts about diabetes and accept it wholeheartedly so that it can't be a heavy burden in your part.

Diabetes affects the whole body. Diabetes that is untreated, unchecked, and unmanaged can cause loss of sight, kidney disease, heart disease, high blood pressure, stroke - shall I go on?

Diabetes is a serious disease, but it doesn't have to cause death. Correct management of diabetes means it can be controlled. Diabetics can live long, healthy, productive, happy lives. Some of the most famous and accomplished people that you know are diabetic.

Eating the right kind of food and living a healthy lifestyle is the best arsenal that you have to fight diabetes. Below are listed the best ways to manage diabetes.

Test your blood glucose level as often as your doctor has told you to check it. If he said check it six times a day, that didn't mean "six times a day if it's convenient." It meant six times a day whether it's convenient or not.

Stick with the diet that has been prescribed for you. Try to remember that we should eat to live and not live to eat. If you are on a restricted-calorie or restricted-carbohydrate diet, follow the diet.

Exercise religiously. Do not let anything prevent you from getting your prescribed exercise each and every day. Exercise like your life depends on it - because it does.

Take your medicine exactly as prescribed. Don't skip or postpone doses. If you need an insulin injection NOW, then give yourself an insulin injection NOW - not maybe later, when you get around to it.

Have a regular check of your everyday meals and their nutrients. Remember that your main goal is to avoid all the sugar that you are not allowed to eat. Include in your everyday meal the right amount of healthy foods so that you are right on track of staying healthy in spite of the disease.

If you have alternates for sugar-rich foods, then go for it. There are different kinds of sugar replacements in the market, especially if you are planning to bake some cakes and cookies. You can utilize these sugar-free products for your baking purposes. It also tastes delicious and you will enjoy whatever you baked for yourself and at the same time maintaining a good blood sugar level.

The amount of food intake is also important because it can have positive or negative impact in your diet and health. You can seek some suggestions from a physician of how much food you should eat everyday.

Diabetics can and do live very long and healthy lives if they manage their diabetes well. As long as you follow the right diet for you, then you will stay healthy for the rest of your life.

Diabetes is a serious disease, but if you manage it well you can still live a normal and productive life. Find out about natural management of diabetes at http://www.managementofdiabetes.org/
