Displaying wall art can be a great way of adding style and visual appeal to almost any room in your home. Shopping for wall art can be a lot of fun, since there is almost no end to the artistic items you will find. Unfortunately, some wall art can be almost as expensive as it is beautiful. If you would like to decorate your home with some interesting pieces of art without breaking your home budget, here are some quick and easy ideas for making your own creative wall art. Even if you think you do not have any artistic talent, you will be able to utilize some of these ideas to create beautiful results.

Frame Your Own Photographs

If you enjoy taking photos, chances are you have hundreds of them just sitting in boxes and drawers. If you have a digital camera, you probably also have several gigabytes of your hard drive devoted to storing your photo files. Why don't you use some of these photos to create your own beautiful wall art? This project requires essentially no artistic talent, and can be quite inexpensive. Simply choose a few of your favorite shots and display them in picture frames. You can even take some of your photos to a photo shop or department store camera department and have them create enlargements from your developed photos or digital files. Or, create a scrapbook page and display it in a 12x12 inch frame. The end result will be artwork that has personal meaning to you, and which will be just as beautiful as the more expensive framed photos and art prints you can buy at the store or art gallery.

Create Your Own Textile Wall Hangings

Textile wall hangings are another form of art that can be used to add a lot of style to your home. Even if you do not have a great deal of sewing talent, there are still wall hangings you can create on your own. For example, you can tie cords to a support rod and weave interesting designs with fabric strips. If you enjoy quilting, you can create a small quilt wall hanging. You can even use stencils to paint designs on a large piece of canvas, sewing a pocket along the top edge so you can display it on a rod. If there are children in the home, they could enjoy creating some of these projects as well.

Creating Wall Art from Collectables

Small collectables can also be used to create interesting wall art. For example, try displaying a spoon or thimble collection on the wall. There are even specially made display cases that you can use for this purpose. Or, create your own artistic display from small objects using a shadow box frame. If you enjoy photography, you might even want to create interesting art arrangements using your collectables, which you can then photograph, print and display in picture frames. You can use items that you have personally collected over the years, or check out flea markets, second-hand shops and garage sales for inexpensive and yet interesting items that match the overall decor of your home.

From textiles to collectables, you will love brightening up your home with these fun and special forms of wall art.
