Most families take a lot of impromptu photographs. However, when looking through photo albums later in life, many children and parents notice a lack of complete family portrait photos. It's easy to understand how this can happen - usually one family member is holding the camera and taking the photos. As a result, most family photos include one or more family members, but rarely EVERY family member. In order to create a more complete family photo history, it can be helpful to make a concerted effort to have more complete family portrait photos taken as your family grows.
Professional Portraits
Although professional portraits are naturally more expensive than those you can take with your own camera, they are a nice addition to a family's photo history. Some families develop a tradition of getting a family portrait taken during the holidays or at some other significant time of the year. Because these photos are taken by a professional photographer, they are usually of much higher quality as compared to the quick snapshots most people take with their own cameras. Perfect lighting conditions, attractive backdrops and even props can help to create photos that your family will truly treasure. In addition to keeping these photos in albums, they are also great for decorating your home. Simply place a few of these professionally taken family portraits in picture frames, displaying them on the mantel, shelf or table.
Family Vacation Photos
Vacations are another great opportunity to take photos together as a family. However, the majority of vacation photos are taken by family members, so it's common to have one person missing from each photo. To create complete mementos of your vacations, try to find ways to get everyone in the photo together. Sometimes amusement parks and tourist attractions will take photos of the entire family together, selling the photo prints for a reasonable cost. This can be a great way to get a vacation photo of the entire family enjoying a good time together. You could also ask a stranger to take a photo of your entire family together with your camera. Although you might worry that somebody might just run off with your camera, the truth is most people are honest and would be happy to help you take a family portrait. It can be fun to devote an entire shelf to family vacation photos, attractively displayed in picture frames.
Photo Collages
Creating a photo collage is another good way to include all family members. Many times you might have a stack of really great photos, although no one photo has every family member in it. To solve the problem, arrange the photos in an interesting collage fashion, creating one photo display from the entire collection of photos. Using this method, you can frame vacation, holiday or even everyday photos that include every family member. As an added bonus, photo collages are often more artistic and interesting as compared to framing a single photo. You could also display a collection of photos in specially designed frames that have multiple openings.
So, don't let any more time to pass. Capture your entire family in a family portrait, and you will be glad that you did.
