Exploring nature can be a great way to spend quality time together as a family. There are so many things to see and do outdoors that there are an almost endless number of activities you could engage in. Whether you enjoy hiking, biking, bird watching or gardening, nature really has something for everyone. If you have been looking for some great ways to enjoy time with your family, here are some outdoor nature exploration activities to try.

Visit the Neighborhood Park

Regardless of where you live, there is probably at least one park close to your home. An afternoon at the park can be a great way to have fun and enjoy nature at the same time. Choose a park which has facilities that you know your family will enjoy, such as a walking trail, sports field or just a pleasant picnic area. While you are at the park, take the time to enjoy everything nature has to offer, such as the beautiful fall leaves, the squirrels and birds, or even the ants that march across your picnic table in pursuit of your sandwich. Be sure to take your camera along so that you can capture some great nature shots. You'll probably end up with some photos that will be perfect for displaying in wood picture frames which you can use to decorate your home.

Take a Hike

Walking is one form of exercise that almost anyone can enjoy. Look for interesting hiking trails that will appeal to everyone in your family. Make sure to choose a trail that is a good match for everyone. For example, if you have a small child in a stroller, a hike up a hilly path would probably not be the best choice. If you find that your family really enjoys hiking, try to choose a different path each time in order to keep things interesting. Of course, even the same path can provide different experiences, depending on the season. The view of from the top of a hill will be entirely different on a snowy day as compared to when the trees are wearing their colorful fall foliage. Taking a hike is also a great way for everyone in the family to get a bit more exercise and enjoy some fresh air.

Visit the Zoo

If it has been a while since your family has visited a zoo, perhaps it is time to plan a trip. Going to the zoo is often a very inexpensive outing, and it can be a lot of fun to see all the different kinds of animals. Of course, in addition to being a lot of fun, it can also be quite educational. Be sure to take your camera along, so that you can take plenty of photos. Children often especially enjoy a visit to the zoo. If possible, allow them to take their own cameras so that they can take photos of whatever interests them most. Children often enjoy decorating their rooms by displaying photos of their favorite zoo animals in fun hanging picture frames once they get home.

Now you have some great ideas to try when you want to spend some quality time together as a family. Get out into nature and enjoy it at the same time that you are enjoying your family!
