Couples usually have a professional photographer to capture their wedding memories. However, during the honeymoon, they are left to do the photography themselves. This is a special time that most newlyweds want to be able to cherish on film. They want just the perfect pictures to fill picture frames as they create a home together. Whether the couple is traveling to a romantic city in a foreign country or soaking up the sun on a pristine beach, their honeymoon is a once in a lifetime experience that deserves capturing with exceptional photos.
Most newlyweds won't be able to get the same degree of artistry that can be seen in the wedding photographs; however, with a few tips and suggestions, honeymooners will be able to get photos that are worthy of picture frames. In the following, you will find some basic tips for ensuring that your honeymoon photos will be ones you are both proud of.
• First, you should become prepared by learning just exactly how your camera works. You should try to get some practice in before your big trip. Also, remember to take along extra memory cards and a most needed battery charger.
• Regardless of if you are shooting inside or outside, try taking a few shots with and without the flash. Often, one version of the photo will appear much better than the other.
• When you use a flash, look for mirrors and windows located behind your subject. This will cause a flash to create bounce back spots. Try to put yourself or the subject at an angle of any reflective surfaces like these.
• Take many close-up shots. Get closer than you might think you should be. You can greatly impact images in this way.
• When taking pictures of scenery, never get too far from them. Always select a focal point such as a tree or house in the middle of the distance.
• Never position your subject in the center. Try putting your subject in the left or right third of the photo.
• Always let the sun be behind you. Never shoot when your subject will have to squint in the sun.
• Try taking pictures in horizontal and vertical positions for a fun variety.
• When squeezing the shutter button, try to stand steady. Squeeze the button gently to keep from shaking your camera. Better shots are produced when the camera is kept steady.
• Never be afraid to experiment with your photos.
Remember to let your photos tell a story. Begin with shots that establish the beginning of your trip. At different parts throughout your journey you should take a few shots. Take these pictures no matter what you are doing or where you are. You can even photograph the closing of the story by snapping a quick shot of you packing or waving good-bye. Another closing photo can be taken when you arrive home. These pictures will tell a story to your future children of how you and your spouse began your adventure through life together. Picture frames will hold your most cherished memories of a honeymoon that was loved and treasured.
