Over the years, Denver has grown from a mid-sized cowtown into a decent sized metropolitan area. As Denver has grown in population, it has also grown in variety, cultural and entertainment choices. Denver's unique history, along with its climate and weather, means that someone who wants to enjoy the nightlife in Denver will need to keep some things in mind in order to maximize their entertainment experience.

Know the parking situation

Like any major city, parking in Denver can be a pain in the butt in certain parts of the downtown area. There is metered street parking available in all of downtown area. The downtown area is slowly converting their coin operated parking meters to the credit card ticket machines that are at specific places along the street. The thing about this type of pay parking is that there is a minimum amount of time you must purchase, but if you are going out on a night on the town, that is easily done.

There are also many parking lots and parking garages available to park in as well, and on the weekend, some great parking deals are to be had if you plan on going to several nearby venues in one night. The movie theater in the Denver Pavilians will even validate your parking for you when you purchase your movie ticket, and that is a great place to do a dinner and a movie and get your parking for free.

Know what is arround the venue location

In Denver, you want to pick a venue location that has easy parking, and is easy to get to. There are many places that are just off the highway, or are very easy to get to because of the street traffic. For example, in downtown Denver, most of the streets in the downtown area are one way, so if you don't know where you are going, you will want to familiarize yourself with the location on a map, even if you have a good GPS system, because you want to know where you can park nearby as sometimes Denver drivers can be a bit impatient.

Pick a venue that isn't in the middle of nowhere because usually you will want to do something after or before the main event. Locations in downtown, Stapleton, Northfield, Cherry Creek, Highlands and Wash Park usually have a good mix of venues, however Wash Park can sometimes be killer for finding a parking spot.

Know the weather forecast

As the saying goes, "If you don't like the weather in Colorado, just wait a while." One of the many interesting and sometimes uncomfortable experiences new Denverites experience is the rapid change in weather. Just because you may wake up to a bright sunny 75 degree day, doesn't mean it won't be snowing by the time you leave work. When you are out on a night on the town, you don't want to get caught being under-dressed for the weather conditions. Pay attention to the weather forecast for that day (because that is about as long as the weather forecast is reasonably accurate.)

It doesn't hurt to keep an extra jacket in the vehicle with you as well just in case that unique Colorado weather makes a showing on your night out!

It is simple enough to enjoy your night out on the town in Denver when you take a few things into account. Whether you are going to the theater, movies or out to the bar, just keep some of these things in mind. If you are going out to a movie, you will additionally want to know your movie times and how to get to the theater.
