Micronutrients known as vitamins and minerals are essential for good health. Our bodies are normally unable to produce these micronutrients. These are vitamin nutrients and minerals normally found in the foods we eat, but sometimes we may not get enough from the foods alone. So to make sure our body is getting the right amount of vitamin nutrients it needs, we take vitamins and supplements. The most preferred types of vitamin supplements are herbs vitamins.

Vitamins and minerals play essential role in protecting our body from illnesses. And it's more affordable than buying either pharmaceutical or herbal vitamin supplements. Though, herbs vitamins are not as expensive as most pharmaceuticals, but there are nonetheless expensive. Also, it is more effective to have a healthy diet because food is still the best source of micronutrients.

Another drawback associated with taking supplements is the risk to overdose on vitamins. Consuming excess vitamins or minerals can cause side effects like vomiting, nausea, muscle weakness, weight loss, nerve damage, etc.

Who Can Benefit From Vitamin nutrients and Mineral Supplements?

Foods, especially fruits and vegetables are still the best and the safest source of vitamins and minerals. Aside from providing micronutrients, foods are great sources of anti-oxidants and natural fiber. However, there are people who can really benefit from taking herbs vitamin supplements; and those are:

- People whose calorie intake per day is only 1,600
- Adult and children who do not eat whole food groups
- Lactating and pregnant women
- People who have digestive illness or chronic illness
- Those with major injury which interrupts the normal digestion of food
- People who have decreased appetite like the elderly
