Does your child have a bed with a storage compartment underneath? These are quite common today and they can be used for many different purposes. Some people store clothes that are out of season to make more closet space. Some store toys and other items but there is a unique way for you to make good use of this storage area. You can make a treasure chest in your child's storage bed.
Does your child have a collection of toys or other items that he or she has collected throughout the years that they no longer have any use for but that are too sentimental to get rid of? Finding a place for these items can be difficult because you need them to be out of the way to make room for the things that your child is interested now but you can't risk getting them mixed up with something that may be given away. This is a common problem that many families have. Usually these items get packed away in a box and stored in the garage or basement never to be seen again.
The biggest problem with storing them this way is that these items are often damaged by the weather, which causes them to mold and mildew. This destroys any chance your child had of maybe passing them on to their own children one day or simply keeping them as a reminder of their childhood. However, there is an alternative answer to this very common problem. Turning the storage compartment underneath your child's bed into a treasure chest to store all of these items is the perfect solution.
Since most kids love anything to do with pirates and hidden treasure they will love the idea. You won't have any problem getting them to part with the item they love so much (but that they have way outgrown) when they know it will be safely tucked away underneath their bed. In addition, they will be able to pull it out and reminisce about old times whenever they're in the mood and then easily store it away again for safe keeping.
If your child has a regular bed with no storage compartment underneath, you can make your own. All you need to do is visit a local retail store and purchase plastic containers that were designed for under the bed storage. Most of these even have small wheels to make it easy to roll them back and forth from underneath the bed. If you or someone in the family is good when it comes to working with your hands, you can even make an under the bed storage container out of wood. These can be used to store away the treasures your child has grown to love. When you make a treasure chest in your child's storage bed you will be providing them with a unique and excellent way to preserve a piece of their childhood. This is something they will be thanking you for in the future when they look back on these items and remember what a remarkable life they had as child.
