  • Saint Cecilia Virgin And Martyr
Cecilia was born of a noble Roman family, all of whom had embraced Our Lord Jesus and our Church. She was beautiful outside as well as inside, all through her life. She was a perfect example of a fine Christian girl, and was a tremendous influence on everyone she came in contact with. She had a great love for Jesus, and vowed her virginity to Him. She asked for protection from anyone or anything that would jeopardize her virginity.

  • Do You Believe In Purgatory?
In the Catholic Church, the Mystical Body of Christ consists of three Churches: The Church Militant - we the faithful who dwell on earth, The Church Triumphant - the elect who are in the presence of the Beatific Vision in Heaven, and The Church Suffering - those who are no less members of the Body but who are in Purgatory.

  • Do You Believe In Hell?
Hell is mentioned one hundred and forty-six times in the Bible. If we add Gehenna to the configuration, it's another twelve times. So, I think we are standing on good authority, when we speak of the existence of Hell. We hear Jesus Himself saying to Peter: "And so I say to you, you are Peter, and upon this rock I will build my Church, and the gates of Hell shall not prevail against it." (Matt 16:18)

  • Do You Believe In Heaven?
A rainbow is a promise. God our Father reaffirmed the promise He made about our Redemption in the Garden of Eden (Gen 3:15) when Noah landed on the rock after having spent forty days and forty nights in the ark during the flood. The Lord stopped the rain, and gave us a double rainbow.

  • Padre Pio And The Santo Bambino
Saint Padre Pio had an overwhelming devotion to the Child Jesus. Throughout his life, we see photos of the Saintly Franciscan and images of the Child Jesus. In all these photos, it is very obvious from the way he holds these little statues, how much he loves the One Whom they represent.

  • Saint Thérèse Of The Child Jesus And Her Walk Toward Him
Over the years, I have wondered how the Little Flower, another title of the great and yet humble Doctor of the Church, St. Thérèse of Lisieux, got the name Thérèse of the Child Jesus. Visiting Les Buissonnets, home of the Martin family, on pilgrimage, we discovered a small manger, in the back of the Martin garden, with a bed of straw, upon which lay a tiny Creche and all the little figures of the Nativity.

Family, God is so good. We have been racking our brains trying to give you some really meaningful gifts from the Lord for this Christmas season. As it turns out, we read Conversations With God, a meditation book by Francisco Fernandez, of Opus Dei, founded by St. Jose Escriva. There are two teachings we want to share with you, which we believe you will agree constitute two of the greatest gifts the Lord could give you.

  • The Child Jesus In The Holy Land
Here before us was a tiny Baby with curly hair, a chubby Baby, a carefree Baby, a joy to behold, with a tiny bird in His plump little Hands. From a distance He had looked like an ordinary baby, so sweet, so peaceful, so adorable, so untouched. Then we stepped closer and looked into His Eyes! They were not the eyes of a baby.

  • Christmas in Brooklyn
For those of you who do not know our story, Bob was born in the Bronx and I in Brooklyn. We were city children who lived in a small town called a neighborhood. Customs from different parts of the world filled and permeated our little world. Often a neighborhood became like a little country unto itself, as members of families and friends from the "old country" moved close to each other.

  • Visions Of Saint Mary Magdalene De Pazzi
One day, while praying in the garden of the Convent with the other religious, Saint Mary Magdalene de Pazzi became enraptured in ecstasy and saw before her the pits of Purgatory opening. She later shared that she heard a voice, beckoning her to follow and witness the pain, the Poor Souls in Purgatory had to endure. The voice explained this was so that when she prayed for them, she would pray relentlessly and compassionately.

She constantly prayed for the release of the Suffering Souls in Purgatory. She performed acts of charity; she offered up her Masses and Communions on their behalf. She was even willing to suffer in their place, and there are many accounts where the Lord allowed her to do so. The Poor Souls were allowed to enter the Kingdom before they had suffered for the period assigned them, as Catherine suffered unbelievable pain on their behalf.

  • Saint Bernadette And The Sounds Of Hell
St. Bernadette never actually had a vision of Hell, as much as she experienced the Sounds of Hell during one of the times when Our Lady appeared to her. This occurred during the fourth apparition, which took place on Friday, February 19, 1858. Our Lady had no sooner appeared to Bernadette, when the child heard the most horrible roaring sounds, much like screaming and raving, very low and guttural at first, very angry.

The Souls in Purgatory would appear to Saint Margaret of Cortona and beg her to offer all her suffering to diminish their pain and anguish. In particular, there were two merchants who had been slain on the road and died suddenly without having made restitution to those with whom they had dealt unfairly, cheating them while still alive. Death had come upon them so unexpectedly, they had not had time to go to a priest and confess their sins.

In a small village in the middle of nowhere, at the very darkest hour, Mary, the giving Mary, the loving Mary, began a precedent which has stayed with us from that time until this. We can change His mind through His Mother. Tribulation and chastisement can be lessened, minimized, and very possibly done away with, through the intercession of the beautiful Lady who was given to us at the foot of the Cross.
