These cool kitchen gadgets are a must-have for aspiring chefs. They make food preparation fun and easy. Get them and add a professional touch to your culinary efforts.

Pineapple Corer / Slicer

A handy gadget that gives you perfectly peeled and cored pineapple slices, without the mess and struggle. Fill the empty pineapple shell with assorted chopped fruit, or use it as a juice bowl for the kids.

Salad Spinners

A salad spinner's whirling motion removes all excess water from salad leaves and veggies, leaving them crisp and fresh.

Cheese Wire / Slicer

There are many advantages to using a cheese wire / slicer. They cut the hardest of cheeses into thin, even slices. They are easy to use and practically accident-proof. Plus, they are also handy for slicing boiled eggs or soft fruit. Cheese slicer boards come in marble, wood and glass. Alternatively, opt for hand-held wire slicers. Either way; they're far superior to knives.

Bench Scraper

Bench scraper, dough scraper, bench knife or pastry scraper: by whatever name you call it, this tool is a must for baking enthusiasts. Use this small, rectangular, metal or plastic sheet to clean up bits of dough sticking to kneading surface and for turning, kneading, flattening out and portioning dough.

Melon Baller

Use this small tool to scoop out oval or round balls of fruit for salads or as a garnish for cakes and desserts. You can even use it to scoop soft vegetables like zucchini. Melon ballers are usually made of stainless steel and come with plastic, wood or metal handles.

Battery Operated Cookie Press

This cookie press is a versatile party-time gizmo, for it whips out cookies in fun shapes. Also handy for cheese straws, decorating cakes, making dessert toppings and devilled eggs. Just ensure your cookie dough is of the right consistency and keep back-up batteries on hand.

Heart Shaped Waffle Maker

Say "I love you" with heart-shaped waffles on Valentine's Day, your wedding anniversary or any special occasion (makes for a useful gift, too). Typically, waffle irons come with a non-stick surface, varied temperature settings, removable grid plates for easy waffle release and quick cleaning up. Green and red lights indicate cooking progress.

Meat Slicer

Not so adept with a knife? A meat slicer will give you evenly sliced meat each time. Slicing thickness can be adjusted according to your requirements. Some meat slicer models also double up as bread slicers.

Potato Ricer

A potato ricer resembles a giant garlic press with holes the width of rice grains. Fill the open chamber with chunks of boiled potato and press the plunger down for delightfully fluffy, mashed potato. A potato ricer can also be used to squeeze water from raw grated vegetables to make hash browns or crisp pancakes.
