Credit card debt is often financially crippling. Large amounts of credit card debt will put a huge burden on your budget each and every month. If you aren't able to keep up with your monthly payments then your credit rating will take a massive hit, reducing your ability to qualify for the loans you need and ensuring any loans you do receive in the future will come with highly unfavorable terms. Even if you are able to keep up with your minimum monthly payments you will find yourself writing a check to your lender every month for the next 20-30 years, and you will ultimately pay much more than your present account balance. It's clear everyone with credit card debt will benefit from a better solution than simply trying to keep up with monthly payments. And that better solution is credit card debt settlement.
What is credit card debt settlement? Credit card companies don't want you to know this, but you have the ability to settle the total amount of your credit card debt for less than your present account balance. When you negotiate a credit card debt settlement you and your lender will arrive at a lump-sum amount of money you can send them all at once, and in exchange they will void out your larger loan, leaving you debt free for a fraction of what it would cost you to chip away at your debt slowly by just making you minimum monthly payments.
Think about it this way. If you just make your monthly minimum payments than $8,000 of credit card debt is going to cost you about $24,000 to pay off in the long run. If you successfully negotiate a credit card debt settlement you can pay that $8,000 off for $6,000 or $4,000 or even just $2,000. Do you want to spend $24,000 and 30 years of your life paying off your credit card debt, or would you rather spend $2,000 to have your debt forgiven immediately? The choice is clear- credit card debt settlement offers a superior solution to traditional repayment, every time.
There are a couple big, important points you need to keep in mind when you attempt to negotiate a credit card debt settlement.
First, you need to keep in mind the fact credit card companies aren't likely to accept a settlement unless they think it's the only way they will get any money out of you. For this reason, most successful settlements only occur if you haven't paid your minimum for at least a few months at a time.
Second, it's often a good idea to work with an organization or agency which specializes in negotiating credit card debt settlement. It's possible to negotiate your settlement on your own, but dedicated professionals can often help provide you with superior terms.
Finally, you always want to make sure you have the terms of your credit card debt settlement in writing from your credit card company before you send them money. As long as your credit card debt settlement agreement is in writing your lender is bound to uphold the terms of your agreement.
