Most things well worth doing require more than one step to achieve. To carry out any complex project or achieve most worthwhile goals will require concentration, dedication and a few steps carried out during a period of time. Aiming to survive in the making of music is no exception. Choosing to have a career in music is no different. Here's the way to make a success of your talent in five simple steps.

Step 1. Make a solid contract about practicing your instrument. This will be significant because without working at your craft no amount of talent can pull you through. Should you decide not do this step, and you can still be highly proficient at what your instrument is, then you must be a genius.

Step 2. Practice putting yourself on the spot as if you were performing. Don't stop playing just because you made a mistake. This is a crucial step that will need your full attention. Do it in this way: Especially when sight reading this can be crucial to keep your adrenalin flowing and forces you to catch up.. The primary reason why is when your'e playing with an ensemble the other players are not going to stop. It would be pure chaos if they did.

Step 3. As opposed to step 2 it is also wise to stop playing if you encounter a difficult part of the music. The reason for this is to analyze the technical problem and think about how to solve it. Also, it is good to keep from practicing a mistake over and over so as to embed that into your bad habits.

Step 4. After dealing with the technical obstacles, interpreting musical expression is very important. To elaborate on that a bit, Very often people are excited by pure technical ability, but music without expression and phrasing is dry and uninteresting.

Step 5. Sight read every day, preferably with another musician. Additionally, you'll need to gear yourself up for a life of some financial hardship and some lonely hours while you're on the road or in the studio 'til the wee hours.

At the conclusion, for those who have stuck with the above tips all the way, you will have succeeded and after this can sit back and relish the rewards of that success. You should congratulate yourself and permit yourself to be satisfied and somewhat proud. You achieved what you set out to accomplish! Savor the sweet taste of success! Now enjoy it!

For those who did not keep to the 5 step tips above, shame on you! You must have decided that to survive in the profession of making of music just wasn't worth the cost to you! :-)
