As most car owners know, an engine swap is a very popular process. The process entails removinga car's current engine and replacing it with an entirely new one. There are a few different reasons that engine swaps are performed. Some engine swaps are done because of engine failure, but the are most commonly done to older cars so that they can have a new more modern or more maintainable engine inside. Nearly any brand of engine can be placed in a new car as long as the person installing the engine knows what they are doing. Although engine swaps can be performed by a professional mechanic, many car enthusiasts decide to do them on their own.

There are many different common engine swaps that car owners are performing. There are just certain vehicles that numerous car owners decide to do engine swaps on so that the car can run to their liking. One of the most popular types on engine swaps in the automobile community is know as project MV8R. This is a engine swap into a second generation Toyota MR2. With this particular engine swap a V8 engine is placed inside a second generation Toyota MR2, which can be classified as a Toyota MR2 that was created in either 1991, 1992, 1993, 1994 and 1995.

There are numerous reasons that this particular engine swap is so common. One of the reasons lies solely in the second generation MR2. In 1995 Toyota stopped importing the second generation MR2 into the United States. However, they continued to sell this car to other countries around the world until 1999 when they created the 3rd generation MR2. This made the second generation car very special to many car lovers, causing many of them to want to keep their second generation MR2 instead of upgrading to the third generation version of the vehicle.

Many car owners did not want to give up on their valuable Toyota MR2, but wanted to have the more powerful V8 engine in the car instead of the V6 engine that the car originally came in. This is what sparked the popularity of the V8 engine swap in this particular model. Today, many car owners who own this special second edition version of the MR2 are deciding to do the V8 engine swap. The swap is so popular that websites have been created specifically for this particular swap. Online, second generation MR2 owners can find blogs, articles and even forums on this particular engine swap. This allows MR2 owners to talk with other owners about tips and advice with this MR3 engine swap.

In terms of engine swaps, the V8 swap with the MR2 is perhaps one of the most popular today.
