When you are a musician and you want to cover one of your favorite songs, the most important thing that you can do is make it your own unique version of the song. If you want to do a Bjork cover, for example, the best thing that you can do is completely re-work the song and do a totally unique version. Bjork has such a distinctive voice and if you simply try to copy her, you are not going to do the song justice. No one can be Bjork as good as Bjork can so the best thing you can do is be yourself. Use your unique sound to make the song sound original.

If you are wanting to hear more about these kind of methods, you should definitely keep reading this article. We are going to discuss a few ideas that you can use the next time you are playing or recording a cover song, and it will definitely be beneficial for you to read over this so that you can have this information. If you are a musician, you will definitely find it to be a good read.

When you are trying to cover a song in an original way, one of the things that you can do first of all is change the instrumentation. If we go back to the Bjork example, let's say you are trying to do a "Hyperballad" cover. "Hyperballad" is one of Bjork's most well-known songs so you will definitely have to make it unique. Originally, the song has an electronic arrangement with a lot of bass and drum beats. One thing you could do is do the song with just acoustic guitar and vocals or just piano and vocals, for example. This could help you because it will make the song sound stripped down and simple, and it will be a unique cover.

Another thing that you will want to make sure that you do is to keep the vocals, especially the lyrics, essentially the same as the original. You want your cover to sound unique, but you also want people to recognize what the song is supposed to be. If you keep the same basic vocal melody and lyrics, the song should still be recognizable. Do not be afraid to use your own vocal style, though, which can include different dynamics and phrasing.

Now that we have given you an example of how to properly perform a Bjork cover or a "Hyperballad" cover specifically and still make it sound original, you should be able to take these basic principles and apply them to any artist. Whatever you are covering, you want to make sure that it is a song that you really love. If you really love the song, that will come across to the audience. Also, you should remember playing music is about having a good time so make sure that whatever song you choose to cover, it will be something that is fun to you.

If you would like to see an example of a really great Bjork cover, have a look at these acoustic Bjork covers for more information on how to play a great cover song.
