As the American population begins to learn more and more about how we are harming our planet, more citizens are deciding to embrace the green movement and become more environmentally friendly. There are a number of ways that people can be more green. While some people prefer to eat organically or buy organic clothing one of the most significant ways that individuals living in the United States can be green and truly environmentally aware, is by using alternative energy sources.
Fortunately, there have been recent developments that have found that there are other sources of energy besides gas, oil, coal and nuclear options that can be very damaging to the planet. There are mays to use solar energy by building solar panels on the home and there is also green energy technology. While many people talk about needing to break away from our dependences on oil, gas and coal, many people do not know where they would get their energy source from without these things. However, by using green energy technology people can get energy and power from a much less damaging source.
However, before advocating for this type of energy or trying to find ways to implement it, it is important to understand what green energy is. Green energy is a type of electricity that originates from a source that will have less of an impact on the environment then other energy source will. There are a number of different sources of green energy available in todays society, some are more popular than others but they can all be used as alternative energy sources. Since more information has come out about these sources, more and more individual homeowners and corporations are looking for ways to use them as an energy source of their own.
The first and perhaps most popular source of green energy is solar energy. Humans have been using this type of energy for many decades. Now with new technologies, solar panels can be placed on buildings or homes that collect the power from the sun and turn it into usable energy. Another green power source that is gaining popularity is wind. With wind power large wind mills are used to collect the power from wind and turn it into electricity. Many cities are using this type of power to sustain their energy needs. There is also geothermal power that comes from the decay of minerals in the grounds as well as hydropower. Hydropower uses the force of falling or dropping water as an energy source and is actually the most used type of green energy in the United States.
There are many ways the the US can get their energy from green and environmentally friendly sources. By putting more effort into developing systems that can effectively turn these sources into usable energy people will havea smaller and smaller impact on the environment around them. While some buildings and homes in the United States are using some of these sources, with greater effort into using green energy, a lot less damage can be done to the planet.
