When you are choosing a tree stand, there are some things that you want to consider. This article will walk you through these things

The first thing to think about are the benefits of tree stands

The height is going to give you a better range of visibility across a larger area instead of being stuck on the grass. The deer isn't going to see you when you are up on a tree stand. When you are off of the ground, the deer won't smell you as easily. Since you aren't moving around a lot, you are not going to be heard by the deer when you walk on snow or leaves. The deer aren't going to see you first. You can be protected by wind, cold, and/or rain. There are blinds that have heaters and there are ones that have canopies. If you are shooting when it's really warm outside, you will have some shade because of a canopy. You will be able to hear or see the deer moving before they see you. You can shoot over the bushes and limbs. Great for hunters that are disabled or unfit. They're great for bow hunters who want to be much closer to a target.

What's the length of time you'll be seated? What's the shape of your body, especially your bottom? What level of comfort do you want when you're sitting? What kind of protection would you like from the weather?

The second thing to consider is the abilities you have with fitness and height.

How high do you want to climb? How high do you think you can climb? Are you really fit enough to make a climb?

Finally, you will want to know the different kinds of tree stands.

Different kinds of tree stands

Hang on stand. Since these stands only are a footrest and seat, they don't have much comfort.. The thing to consider with this is the seat's padding. The models that are cheaper don't have much padding., The price of these might look good on paper. But you will find out the truth when you sit on it for a while. The seat should be able to fold up or down, so you can alternate between the sitting and standing position

Climbing tree stand. This stand type has a level of comfort that's high. You are able to choose anywhere from the basic chair to one that's like a lounge chair. Check the seat size to make sure your body is going to fit into it. They also have a lot of different features. Some of them are foot rests, shooting rails, camo padding, multiple seating heights and positions, and gear bags that are detachable,

Ladder stand. This stand basically is a seat that's hooked to steps. The comfort level's determined by the padding on the armrests and seats and the size of the seat. They can come as 1 or 2 person stands.

Hopefully this has given you some insight to the world of tree stands.. You should have no trouble choosing one for yourself.
