Often the toughest task a consumer faces when starting a new home improvement project or finding a new service provider is trying to find a reputable company to entrust their money with. Finding the right company that can provide good work and fantastic customer service can be tough.

Many companies do a good job but have a bad relationship with customers. Other companies excel at customer service but provide mediocre services. Just what is the best way to find the right company to do the job for you?

Angie's List is a growing company that helps match consumers with the right service provider. Angie's List subscribers are provided access to an ever growing list of reputable companies that proved services from lawn care to medical treatment. The company was founded in 1995 by Angie Hicks in Columbus, Ohio. Since '95 the company has grown from 1,000 users to 750,000 users across the nation. Consumers can contact Angie's List by fax, website, or toll free at 866-945-2889. After informing Angie's List what service they need, a list of companies will be compiled and provided that have a history of providing reliable service.

The company even provides a client resolution process to ensure their list of service providers has only the best companies on it. The company will help mediate disputes between consumers and providers. Angie's List than keeps track of the result and makes note of how many times, if ever, a service provider resolved a dispute, acknowledged but did not agree with a dispute, or flat out refused to address the issue.

Angie's List provides consumers access to services in various sectors. Consumers have used their service to find reputable carpet cleaners, heating and a/c technicians, lawn services, dentists, pediatricians, child care providers, and fitness centers. Consumers gain access to all this information for varying fees. Angie's List charges a $10 signup fee for all new users and offer monthly plans or annual plans of one, two, three, and four year lengths. Monthly plans cost $5.95, while the four year plan costs $150.

So is Angie's List worth the subscription? Many people, especially those moving to know locations, have a hard time finding new doctors, good child care, or reliable maintenance companies. It is possible to find all these things in the phone book without paying any subscription fees. However, there isn't a phone book in the world that has experienced the services of the companies contained within. Angie's List offers consumer feedback on all the companies listed, giving the consumer piece of mind in choosing their next doctor, landscaper, or contractor.
