Many people are unaware of one of the most basic care requirements for Goodyear tires, which is to know how to determine if their tires are ready for replacement. Though most tires will last somewhere between 20,000 and 60,000 miles, even the best will eventually have to be replaced and it is crucial that car owners know when to do so.

First of all, despite your best efforts a tire may need to be replaced well ahead of schedule. Extended driving, drastic weather changes, and constantly riding over rough speed bumps on your way to school or work may reduce the tire's lifespan. The first clue that your tire may need to be rotated or even replaced is usually a bumpy ride. Anytime you begin to feel a shake or shimmy as you drive or you start to notice that your fuel cost is increasing, you may want to check your tires to ensure that they are not the cause of change.

Next, you want to check the tread on your tire to ensure that it is high. Once the tread for your tire begins to decrease, it is generally advised that you replace your tires with new ones. The simplest way to determine if your tire has the proper amount of tread is to place an upside down penny into the grooves of the tire tread. If you can see all of President Lincoln's head when you place it into the slot, then it is time to buy yourself a new tire.

Finally, be sure to visually inspect your vehicle's tires on a regular basis and before any long journey. Take time out to make sure they are neither under or overinflated and visually inspect for any sort of knick, hole, gash, or other damage. If you find that your tires are underinflated or have been damaged in some way, it is best to have them inspected by a professional, as it may be time to replace them.

When you do decide that it is the right time to replace your Goodyear tires, the best way to do so is to replace the entire set at once. If this is absolutely not possible, at least replace both the tire that is visibly damaged as well as its mate, in other words replace both front or both back tires at the same time. Never replace a single tire if you can avoid doing so, as it may affect vehicle performance.

If you want to find the custom tires that are right for you today, then you can visit Goodyear Tires and you may also want to see Falken Tires.
