We've come to this point in the year, where we reflect on our results and aspirations for the next year.

The business owners who have had great success and achieved or over achieved their objectives are a bit afraid to celebrate because those who don't feel as positive about their results may shun them. To you I say, congratulations and step up and be the model for what's possible! Your willingness to shine makes it "believable" that others can do the same!

Some business owners who haven't achieved their goals are happy to blame their clients, the economy, the planets in retrograde, etc. We can all agree that this year has given us pain, stress and a less than optimal environment in which to thrive. But then that's the joy of being a business owner. We can make lemonade or get that sourpuss on our faces.

So in honor of that visual, I say, suck it up! It's time to get your game face on!

You've had a year of examples, tests, wins and losses. For example, you've likely experienced new clients who have found you and wanted to work with you. You've lost clients in the sales process because they may not have been ready for the success they wanted. Or perhaps you weren't clear on the transformation they could achieve. However, you've planted the seeds for a full bloomin' party in 2011!

Observing the success of other business owners is not to be angry, jealous or feel bad about. It is SIMPLY an example to use to YOUR advantage. Examine what it is they did to get the results they achieved. And use it.

I want you to consider the following.

- Were they willing to get out speaking, networking, hob-knobbing so that more prospective clients were aware of them?

- Were they willing to be open to collaborate with others and to give them access to a new community of prospective clients?

- Were they willing to ask their clients what they wanted and delivered it?

- Were they willing to use strategies to support them like following up, staying in touch, educating their market or taking a leadership/influencer role in their industry?

Perhaps they were willing to invest in themselves and learn more, ask more, take more calculated risks to achieve a different result. And…they likely tried something they hadn't before.

You see it's so easy to blame the clients, economy and planets. But it's much more rewarding to stretch yourself and create a new shape to your mind, heart and business. YOU create your results.

As depressions and recessions of the past (and present) have taught those of us who are PAYING ATTENTION, there is no limit to what you can create when you're willing to accept the possibility of greatness.

You've gotten the results.

You've gotten the message

Now, get your game face on!
