Creating your own fireworks show can be both fun and easy as long as you take a few things into consideration. Safety, local regulations, and cost should all be considered.

Fireworks are fun and a great way to celebrate holidays and special occasions but many people fail to take the time to properly plan a home fireworks show. There is much to consider but keep in mind fun should be a priority. Take a little time and do a little research and a great time should be had by all.

Before even considering planning your own fireworks display make sure that you have a full understanding of proper fireworks safety. Safety should always be your first priority. You need a non-flammable surface such as cement drive way to launch or light fireworks on. Make sure you have a fire extinguisher and hose available. It is also a good idea to have a bucket full of water to place extinguished fireworks in. Establish a viewing area for the fireworks that is a safe distance from where they will be lit. Make sure children understand that fireworks maybe pretty but they are fire and will burn them. Also make sure you check overhead for tree limbs and other obstructions. Fireworks often come with safety tip sheets that can make a great reference for these and other safety tips or do an internet search for "create your own fireworks show" and see what advice may pop up.

Some cities and even states ban fireworks during different seasons or all together. Before even purchasing 1 firework call your local Fire Department and check local laws. Make sure to give them the specific address of where the fireworks show will be preformed as laws often change based on whether or not you are in the city limits. Also clarify what fireworks you can and can't light as some areas have laws against anything that is airborne. Don't ignore local laws and regulations as fines can be hefty.

Cost some times can be a prohibit factor when planning a fireworks show. Fireworks can be expensive but with a little planning anyone can put on a good show. Check with your local fireworks dealers after holiday's like July 4th, and New Year's and you maybe able to purchase fireworks at a discount. Also talk with friends and neighbors and plan one central location to light fireworks. That way you have all most a firework potluck and everyone can enjoy the show. Packages of fireworks can often look like a good deal but examine them closely to make sure that they really are saving you money. Often its better to purchase the fireworks separately.

So remember anyone can create there own fireworks show as long as they consider these few points, safety, cost and local regulations. Don't go out on the 4th of July, create your own fireworks show!
