Fat loss is not as easy as weight loss. In order to lose fat while preserving muscle, certain strategies must be followed. Following the right techniques will help you lose fat, get lean and start your new year right.

The first strategy to achieve fat loss is probably one of the most important yet hardest to follow - eliminate fast foods and junk foods.

Even though they may appear healthy at first glance, they are usually full of substances that will make or keep you fat. These harmful additives may make the foods low-fat or sugar free but have their own side effects ranging from fatigue to headaches to hormonal imbalances that cause you to store fat.

These toxins have been added to foods for years but because of laws do not have to be labeled in certain amounts. The amounts may seem small - but when consumed on a daily basis will add up, giving you the opposite outcome than what you were looking for.

These toxins can inhibit your fat loss goals by making you tired so that you can't exercise. They can make your thinking foggy, which makes it harder to make the right food choices. They can make you feel tired and cranky which will cause you to reach for comfort foods. And worst of all - they can make your body store fat instead of eliminating it.

The next strategy is a little easier. Eat fresh, non-processed, organic proteins such as organic lean beef, organic poultry and fresh fish. These provide high quality nutrition to feed your muscle while not adding fat and toxins. This is important if you are looking for that lean look.

Add to this strategy a diet full of fresh, organic fruits and vegetables. Fresh is best and frozen is next to best. Go easy on the sauces and butters - but use them if that is what it takes to get you used to eating them.

Fresh fruits and veggies add high quality nutrition to your diet. This helps your body eliminate toxins that get stored in your fat cells, making them larger. The fresh vitamin and mineral water in fruits and veggies helps your body flush these toxins right out of your system. This brings us to the next strategy.

Drink some of your veggies to help your body flush fat. Drinking fresh juice from celery, cucumbers, beets and parsley helps your body eliminate waste buildup that can clog your body and slow your metabolism. This speeds the fat loss and adds energy to help you through your day.

Our last strategy for fat loss is moderate exercise. Extreme, or hard exercise may lead to lack of motivation. If you cannot stay motivated - you will not stay on your program.

In addition, exercise that is too extreme can cause muscle soreness which will stop you from being consistent with your program. This can hurt your efforts since the key to any exercise is consistency.

The best exercises for fat loss include walking and rebounding. Both of these move your lymphatic system, which is the circulatory system responsible for eliminating waste from throughout your body. They are both fun, easy and inexpensive, which makes them easier to do on a daily basis.

Try all of these basic fat loss strategies to get your new year going in the right direction. As the old saying goes - keep is simple for success!
