Enjoying The Down Town Entertainment Scene

Many, many moons ago, having a fun time was so much more simple than it seems to be these days. It seems that a Friday night adventure is now divided into two very distinct, yet totally opposite groups.

One group goes way over the top. Reservations at the hottest restaurant not only means a hefty bill, but also a trip to the local suit shop to ensure that you are not seen at one of the cities biggest hot spots in yesteryear's threads. In addition, it wouldn't be a proper evening without a stop at a music lounge, a trip to a classy bar, and a night club to top the night off. See, although this sounds like fun, it also sounds like 5 different reservations, a very tight itinerary, a bunch of traffic while i navigate from one plush part of the city to the other.

Although I can certainly see the benefit of planning such a night out, it is more complicated than it has to be.

On the other side of the equation is the group that does not want to hassle with plans or reservations altogether. So they pull out the old BBQ big, dump a few cases of beer into the cooler, turn up the Otis Redding playing on the radio, and hang out with friends in the backyard. Yes, without a doubt this is very fun, it is also very simple to put together. So in essence, you are going out, but not really going out at all.

In the old days, we went out in a fashion that was more of a mix of the two extremes. We would line up a few places that we wanted to top in on that we knew wouldn't require a dress code or for us to be on the waiting list, that way we could all be comfortable and float on our own time schedule.

After that, for the luxurious and elite flavor that some of us desired, we would call a local limo service and schedule a chauffeured stretch navigator to pick up up. We would cruise into the city with the party in full effect, raging to the tunes of loud hip-hop, full open bar, and good friends.

The limousine service always features a chauffeur that will drive us from bar to restaurant to karaoke spot while we our partying, yet completely safe and legal. This allows us to control our environment, see the town, and stay in our comfort zone the entire night.

Call me old school, but that is the way we do it, and it is allot better than today's options.
