Many people in the world today now experience Panic Attacks. The symptoms of Panic Attacks are often confused with those of Heart Attacks or even Strokes. This is why they can be very serious.
Panic Attacks are sudden episodes of very intense fear coupled with some tell-tale symptoms and signs that your body will display.
The attack itself usually lasts for between 10-20 minutes, although to the sufferers, they feel much longer. The first step you need to take in order to prevent future panic attacks is being able to recognize the signs and symptoms.
Some of the most serious symptoms of panic attacks can be quite frightening and at times can even lead to the person experiencing the attack to believe that they might be dying.
It is not uncommon for the victim of the panic attack to believe that they are going crazy, losing control or about to have a heart attack due to the severity of these symptoms.
Symptoms associated with panic attacks include:
* Feeling extremely stressed * Experiencing a sense of paralysing fear and anxiety * Rapid thumping of the heart * Hot flushes * Sudden chills * Choking sensation * Chest pains * Tingling in the fingers or toes * A fear that you are dying or going crazy * Difficulty breathing or feeling as though you cannot get enough air * Racing heartbeat * Feeling dizzy/lightheaded * Experiencing a feeling of dread * Nausea * Trembling or shaking * Sweating * Feeling nervous
It is important to remember to be aware that in some cases medical ailments could produce the same symptoms as panic attacks.
Therefore, it is always important to consult your doctor if you experience any of these symptoms together. Once you know the facts, you can then begin the journey to finding the best treatment, natural or otherwise.
Panic Attacks and Anxiety Attacks can be extremely difficult to come to terms with. The simplest task can take on monstrous proportions. Whatever treatment you finally take, you need to have the support and understanding of those closest to you. The last thing you want to hear is 'Oh just get on with it' or 'Pull yourself together', but at the same time you must try to keep everything in perspective.
Treatment of Panic and Anxiety Attacks can come in a number of different forms. Sometimes, just the support and understanding of those around you is sufficient, alternatively natural therapies can be the answer, whilst in more extreme cases, a course of medication might be required. Whichever is required, getting treatment as quickly as possible and resolving the underlying causes are the most important aspects of any treatment.
