Fresh juice from fruits and vegetables is a valuable addition to your daily nutrition. If you are searching for ways to level up your overall health, it can be a stairway to a higher holistic level. Full of live enzymes and the best of vitamins and minerals in an accessible form, juicing takes nutrition way past the level of chomping down on a carrot. If you are considering juicing, you have to consider what tool you will be juicing with. Is a cheap juicer the best choice in the sea of choices we are faced with, or will it be a functional (and economic) alternative?
Cheap Vs. Quality
Everyone has been on the "thinking" side of the purchasing equation. We have decided on getting into something new, but we need some equipment to make it a reality. Should we go with quality or drop the dough on the cheap alternative? There are cheap juicers and quality juicers that both function well and do their job in an efficient way. The most important question is to ask yourself "what is my goal?" Do you plan on juicing every day? If so, invest more money into the juicer. If you just want to make juice every once in a while, settle for the less expensive variety.
Healthcare Juicing
Buying a juicer is much different than buying a flat screen television or the latest video game. This is an investment in health, so really instead of falling into the discretionary spending category (which usually ends up murdering a budget) it falls into the health category. Purchasing a juicer is a wise investment because it is investing in prevention. Prevention is a pre-emptive strike against disease before it turns into a debilitating condition that drains your physical, emotional, and financial health. So feel good about buying prevention; an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.
Juicer Breakdown
To make the juicer selection process easier and to understand the way in which juicers juice, here's a quick breakdown. Cheap juicers fall into the centrifugal juicer category. These juicers use a motor that runs at high speeds and uses a basket shredder to separate the juice from the pulp. A masticating juicer grinds the vegetables at a slower speed than the centrifugal juicer and tends to separate the juice from the pulp more efficiently. The last, and most expensive, kind of juicer is the triturating juicer. This juicer has a highly efficient system that runs at a low speed, has a special device to grind the pulp, and usually is outfitted with a hydraulic press to get every ounce of juice from the pulp.
Here are some basic concepts to keep in the back of your mind when searching for a juicer that fit your juicing needs:
*Consider the motor speed when it comes to juicing. The faster a motor runs the hotter the juicer gets, and by association, the juice. The theories vary, but some believe that the way in which high speed juicers function may affect the nutritional quality of the juice.
*Take into account how noisy juicers can be. Cheap juicers are usually the loudest, but this is not always the case. Keep your tolerance for noise in mind when purchasing a juicer.
*If you want to juice primarily greens or wheatgrass, you may want to consider a juicer that deals with those more efficiently. Most juicers can't handle grasses or greens efficiently, unless they come outfitted with an attachment. Keep in mind your goals and they should help guide your purchase.
*What kind of accessories does the juicer come with? Is it outfitted with a warranty on the motor or the entire unit? Look into attachment additions the model has in case you want to add other components to your juicing later on. Some juicers have attachments that can make nut milks others allow you to more efficiently juice greens.
*One of the most important issues when it comes to juicing is clean up. How easy is the juicer to take apart and clean? Consider this when searching for a juicer.
When you are looking to start your juicing campaign, consider your goals before considering a cheap juicer. It may be a good starting point if you just want to test the process to see if you will like it. But no matter what you do, know that juicing is a good investment in prevention; which alone is worth whatever price you pay. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.
