You know the smell of a freshly cut lawn or the look of the world turning green at the coming of spring. Imagine if you could put that in a bottle and drink it. Do you think it would be a good thing for the body? Would it boost your body like the former sensations boost your mood? There has been a lot of talk about green drinks and their use amongst vegetable juicers and health gurus, but can you experience wheatgrass benefits, as well?

Yeah, but what is wheatgrass?

Wheatgrass is simply young wheat still in its initial growth stage—it looks very similar to the grass growing out of your lawn. It is grown for the purposes of drinking, applying to the body, and a wide range of other therapies. At a young age it has a host of nutritional elements that are beneficial.

The Why of Wheatgrass

The power of the sun has made wheatgrass benefits what they are. The wheat grass in its beginning stages is packed with a wide range of vitamins:

*Vitamin A

*Vitamin B-12

*Vitamin E

*Vitamin C

*Phosphorus

*Magnesium

and other elements such as biotin, protein, chlorophyll, and sugars. There are essentially two parts to wheatgrass, the vitamin filled water and the stringy fiber of the plant. Your job as a vegetable juicer is to separate the two and drink the juice.

Reported Benefits

Wheatgrass can be taken internally or applied to the body in a multitude of ways. The ways in which you can use wheatgrass mirror the potential effects wheatgrass may have on you. Here are just some of the areas people have been reporting success with:

*Antibacterial effects

*Detoxifying effects

*Energy boosting

*Skin Treatments

*May minimize the effects of inflammation

*Alkalizes the body

These are just used to paint a very broad picture of the potential benefits of wheatgrass. Do more research into wheatgrass, read testimonies, and experiment (keep a journal to document changes in how you feel) to see what effects this green drink will have on you.

Don't Settle For Dehydrated

The further you get away from the real thing, the further you get away from nutrition. Processed foods do not impart the same amount of nutrition than foods that are directly from the ground. When it comes to wheatgrass benefits, the dehydrated powders do not have the same nutritional punch that real wheatgrass juice has. The power of the juice is the fact that vitamins and minerals are in the form of nutrient rich water. If the water is evaporated out of the equation, you are losing a lot of nutrition. Stick with the real grass.

Will It Work?

"Will it work for me?" is a common question with any alternative health therapy. The answer lies in application. If we don't try something, it will be forever lost to the could-have-been fictional world. One good way of seeing if something is having a practical effect on your whole-body-health is to keep a journal. What people say is one thing, but what you experience first hand is another. And remember, you are not going to take a green drink, put down the glass and say "I am healed." It is a process that takes time. Monitor your feelings and make journal entries of physical and emotional changes in your body with any new therapy you are embarking on. This process will allow you to gauge the effectiveness of whatever you are doing.

Sun nutrition is the power behind wheatgrass benefits. Taking a wheatgrass shot is a great potential component for a disease prevention plan. Don't take everyone's word for it, experiment with green drinks in your own health crusade and see if drinking green can really be that good.
