Whether you are a novice or veteran, in order to divine with the help of tarot cards, you need to know the correct tarot card explanation and apply it intuitively to the situation at hand. Since there are no two perfectly same situations, there are no perfectly same interpretations of any of the tarot cards. However, the meaning of each of the cards is fixed, the connotation changes according to the person for whom the divination is made.

The swords of the tarot cards, which are the Minor Arcana's third suit, symbolize action. However, this action can be a struggle or a type of development. The Ace of swords indicates the period that comes before action starts. This is a positive force but one, which might involve inner and external struggle and tension. It also symbolizes success as at the end of the action you get that for which you strive.

In the tarot card explanation, the two of swords means balance; this balance is not positive, rather it is based on indecision and doubt. This means that you would find success, but obstacles, which would stay on, would counter this. The next card is the three of swords. This one shows that there would be delays in what you are planning to do. There might be losses, but in the end, the delay would turn in your favor.

The four of swords indicates that you need to take a rest or pause before proceeding and pray or invoke the higher powers to assist you in your action. The pause would cause a slight delay, but this would help you achieve your goals.

The tarot card explanation for five of swords says that there is conflict and sudden problems. This conflict would be more internal than external; something that would help you understand that no material gain is really worth it without spiritual balance. The six of swords is also in this vein symbolizing pain both mental and physical, though both would be towards a positive outcome such as enlightenment or healing. This card asks you to act.

The seven of swords indicates that you would achieve exceptional success at the expense of another person. You might have problems, but they would take care of themselves while you find your goal within your reach. The tarot card explanation for nine of swords is pain, anxiety and obstacles in your path. It also says that this will pass, and better times are coming. The ten of swords symbolizes the hopelessness that comes with the darkest hour before dawn; at the same time it tells you that the sooner the stagnation is removed, the sooner the scene changes and you can once again look forward to the future.

The Knight of swords foretells about the interference of a benefactor, which would change your direction and quality of life forever. The Queen symbolizes self-imposed penance and pain that contributes to perfecting your purpose and direction. Lastly, you have the tarot card explanation for the King of swords which can symbolize someone who would have the power of life and death over you.

These meanings, though accurate, are only the tip of the iceberg in the interpretation of the tarot cards. You would be able to achieve the power to divine accurately only with long practice and experience.
