Do people experience a parallel life on the other side after they die? Of course, this is not life as we know it. There may not be the same sense of emotional attachment that we have nor would there be desire.

Spirits may also not communicate with us or worry about us they way we would them as they are not necessarily prone to experiencing feelings like we do. However, there are some belief systems to do with life on the other side where emotion is believed to be the driving force that drives a spirit from its resting place to this life to haunt the living. This is where a ghost whisperer can come in.

Depending on what type of channeller you are talking to, a person may or may not subscribe to the person being down on earth giving you messages as a good thing. Many channelers who sense a dead person around them do not necessarily see it as a loving form of contact. The deceased may be contacting you because they are warning you of some trouble. Or they may be trying to indicate that their spirit is not at rest. The point is that it is not necessarily good news if the spirit form the other side of the moon is around.

Life on the others side really is described in about as many different ways as there are religions in the world. For instance, in India, life on the other side is a state of suspension where you wait to be reincarnated. However, before you come back via the reincarnation process, you go through a very unpleasant process called a Bardo. The full agony of the Bardo process is described thoroughly in the Tibetan Book of the Dead. Many people try to correct their karma in this life so they do not have to go through a lengthy and long process with regards to the Bardo.

Christian concepts have people experiencing life on the other side as either heaven or hell. In some types of Christianity, there is also a purgatory, which is a kind of waiting room in which people who have mildly misbehaved during their lifetime exist until they are permitted into heaven. This is the usual structure that people who have gone to the other side are perceived as living in.

Yet another concept is that we wander around this earth as ghosts until we accomplish certain tasks. We tend to haunt places on earth where we were traumatized emotionally until we "find the light." Once we find the light, we then go through a tunnel to our final destination, which is presumably heaven or being one with some kind of divinity. In some cultures, we go to that light as a process of being purified so that we can be reincarnated.
