A major part in how to get over an affair is when the cheating spouse gives a heartfelt apology to their significant other. They fully understand what they did was wrong as well as comprehending the impact of their actions on the marriage but more importantly how it affected you.
So when your spouse apologizes you can feel the intensity of their words and gauge how sincere it is. Hopefully they are not making a show of it just to get you off their back or trick you into a false sense of security so they can continue the marital affair. It has been known to happen.
That's why the apology no matter how genuine holds little value if there is no follow up to go with it. For instance your mate was quite secretive when it came to what they were doing on line. Using passwords to lock you out and if by chance you did get in the browser history wiped clean.

But it is going to be next to impossible to get to that point and survive an affair if they never apologized for their two timing in the first place. This is the fault line that all too often decides the future of the relationship.
Your spouse is mad they were caught and enraged that you were the one that nabbed them. Therefore they turn the tables and convince themselves you were spying. Their cheating is beside the point. The fact that you were snooping in their personal business trumps everything.
Or it's just a matter of arrogance. So what they stepped out and had a fling. They are still married to you aren't they? After all the fact they could have walked out anytime but didn't should be clear proof that they love you. From their perspective you should be grateful.
It also may be embarrassment. They know what they did was wrong and how devastating the impact was on the relationship. They may even want to apologize but they just cannot bring themselves to take the initial step. In fact there our times when your significant other can't even look you in the eye.
Whatever the reason is not important. When it comes to how to survive an affair it is crucial that the spouse who cheated apologize to their significant other. And that does not mean you have to beg them for it or wait a ridiculous amount of time before they get around to it. If they are serious then it comes down to putting aside how they feel and making sure their first priority is you.
