Remodelling our bathrooms can be a lengthy and tiring task, especially if we have no idea what look or theme we are going for. With so many new styles and designs in everything from stylish kitchen taps to modern items and accessories, you can create the room of your dreams just by shopping around and it's here that many people seem to fail. A superstore that supplies home products and furnishings is likely to stock each individual item you are looking for but not necessarily items that will express the style and theme you are hoping to achieve.

Here we will look at some simple ways to shop for decorative items and accessories that can really help to bring a modern bathroom together.

Choose Your Colours Wisely

Before buying any products for your bathroom consider the colour scheme that is already in place; it's much easier to match new accessories and products with the tiles and fixtures that are already fitted. Its best to match these new items with the primary and secondary colours in your bathroom, to keep a consistent style and tone throughout the room, so try and match the colours as closely as possible for the best overall result.

Let's say for example, your bathroom is made up of black granite tiles on the floor and walls, the bathtub is white, as is your sink or washing basin; this gives us a primary colour (black on the walls and floor) and white (the fixtures). Now we have two colours with which to choose our accessories effectively, and we can apply them throughout the bathroom for maximum effect.

Stylish Additions

There are a range of products you can add to a bathroom that can completely transform the theme and style of the room without having to add new bathtubs or shower enclosures. Something as simple as small plant pots situated in the far end of the bathroom can add a stylish, modern and certainly different twist to your bathroom and a small dash of green in the corner will certainly add a certain something!

Bathroom vanity and storage units can be fantastic when shopping for something to express a certain theme or design; so consider how each one would contribute to the style of your bathroom before you commit to buying. Other additions such as modern back-lit bathroom mirrors can add heaps of style to the room when positioned and colour coordinated correctly.

So there we have just a few simple tips that can help you to create a stylish and modern bathroom!
