Are you familiar with how dropshipping works? Dropshipping is when a retailer partners with a Wholesale Supplier to purchase products at a Wholesale Price and resell them for profit. It may sound like a traditional Buy and Sell business but there is a difference.

With dropshipping, the Wholesale Supplier takes care of the packaging and delivery of the item to the customer. On the other hand, the retailer is in charge of marketing or selling the products from an online store. When the customer makes a purchase, the retailer contacts the Dropshipper to have the orders delivered.

Hence, dropshipping opens an opportunity to aspiring entrepreneurs who are on a budget. Dropshipping eliminates a lot of costs associated with business start-up such as supplies or inventory, renting a storage space for the stocks, hiring workers, and shipping costs.

If you want to start up your own small business through dropshipping, here are essential steps that you must do to be a successful dropship retailer:

Start at eBay. It is a good idea to explore the ins and outs of dropshipping by opening an eBay store. The process of setting up your own business website at eBay is much easier and cheaper compared to building an independent website from scratch.

eBay sellers can use ready-to-use tools and payment processors so you can start selling online right away. Once you have gained experience and knowledge about dropshipping, that's the time you can think about building an independent business website.

Look for a reliable Wholesale Dropshipper. The key to successful dropshipping is working with the right partner. You need to find a legitimate Wholesale Supplier that offers dropshipping services. Take note that there are many scammers in the internet who disguise themselves as Wholesale dropshippers.

You really need to do extensive research and background checks to differentiate legitimate Wholesalers from fake ones. Instead of just using search engines to find prospective dropshippers, use a Dropshipping Directory from a reliable resource.

Secure your company license and business tax number. If a certain Wholesale Dropshipper says that you can open an account with them even if you don't have a Business Tax ID, then you are dealing with a scammer. Remember that the Business Tax Number is one of the basic requirements that a legitimate dropshipper will require from you.

Get to know the products well. Before signing up for a deal with a dropshipper, see to it that you know the products you will be selling. Can you guarantee that the items are of the highest quality? Have you tried the product yourself?

If you are personally convinced that the products are worth selling, then it should be easier for you to promote them online. However, if you have doubts yourself, how do you expect your customers to be happy about their purchase? Will they be encouraged to make another purchase from your shop? Or will they feel tricked and disappointed? Keep in mind that every business owner's success also depends on building strong and lasting customer relationships.
