In cosmetic surgery, cheek augmentation may be used at the same time with other facial rejuvenation techniques or enhancement procedures such as nasal contouring or face lift surgery. The procedure may also be performed alone to produce a desirable aesthetic change in which the cheek region will be augmented or enhanced. The implant will be placed over a person's bone of their lower mandible, along the border of the chin in a very precise pocket. It will then be secured in a central position with a temporary suture. This procedure can most often be done with intravenous or local anesthesia. A patient will almost always be able to return home directly after the surgery.
