Many people choose to hide their large ears behind their hair, or under a hat. Some people think that there is no solution to this problem, but plastic surgery can change your thinking. The plastic surgery procedure known as an otoplasty can save any person, regardless of age, with larger than average ears from torment and self-esteem issues. A young child may especially benefit from this surgery. This procedure is more often than not considered to be cosmetic and so is usually not covered by insurance. The specific risks and the suitability of this procedure for a given individual can be determined only at the time of consultation. All surgical procedures have some degree of risk. Minor complications that do not affect the outcome occur occasionally. Major complications are unusual in ear pinning.
