As a kind of stress relief, a holiday definitely is in all probability the greatest antidote of all to the daily grind of work and household chores. And the best destinations for switching off have to be those that have lots of sunshine and an enjoyable atmosphere.

The only real stress that a family trip gives though is generally the travelling time but the good news is excellent weather is frequently found in a variety of good hotspots around Europe without the need to have to spend a day or so travelling to and from your chosen holiday destination.

Of all the hotspots around Europe, the Canary Islands are probably the most trusted for year round good weather. This would be thanks to their location off the coast of Morocco, making them the most southerly port of call in the whole Eurozone, and of these seven islands it is Lanzarote that has the lowest annual rainfall and is very much the most easterly in location.

As a holiday destination the island has always been well developed, with a good infrastructure that has been maintained and updated throughout the last forty years to ensure that the perceived quality of a vacation here remains high.

The island is often referred to as a magical vacation location and due to the diversity of attractions both natural and man made holidaymakers very rarely only ever visit the island once and it would be not unusual for many to return and ultimately invest in a holiday villa or apartment of their own.

In terms of places to stay, travelers are spoiled for choice but there are essentially three main resorts to choose from if you prefer the laid back hustle and bustle that holiday resorts typically offer, with all amenities close to hand. Or if you prefer a little something more idyllic and calming then there are a host of smaller rural settings, with a wide choice of holiday accommodation style and price range.

For those who like self-catering, Lanzarote apartments are amongst the most cost effective to select from and are ideal for those on a tight holiday budget.

For extra personal space and privacy, the best option is always to hire one of the many villas in Lanzarote readily available for rent. They come with the added benefit of stylish interiors, heated swimming pools, entertainment facilities and all mod cons on offer.

Returning visitors often have the favorites so its not unusual to see the best examples snapped up early in the season but fortunately with the depth of quality of villas available even if you don't get your first choice you will seldom if ever be disappointed.

In the main resorts at night if you are not staying in one of the Islands hotels on full board, there is an extensive choice of restaurants, bars and clubs that make good destinations for a romantic meal for two or a family dinner, or even just for quiet after dinner drink. And with most open until the early hours you can often just sit and relax and watch the world go by in the balmy warm evening weather.

For those who are more active during the day, there is without a doubt a huge array of activities to select from including guided excursions that cover both land and sea, visiting the best attractions the island has to offer on a regular basis.

Alternatively there are plenty of sports to participate in, such as cycling, sailing and walking.

The island of Lanzarote is often regarded as an unspoiled vacation location which continues to charm visitors year after year with the result that many return again and again.
