When was the last time you had a glass of pure drinking water? Was it this morning when you had a glass of water from the tap? Well, maybe not.

You see, research in the past 10 years has revealed how despite municipal water purification, harmful elements are still allowed in our drinking water. As a matter of fact, drugs and even rocket fuel has been discovered in the tap water of various cities across America.

This isn't at all surprising. The EPA sets minimum standards for which certain contaminants should be removed. Once that is achieved, water authorities have obeyed by the law.

But minimum standards don't mean that there are zero amounts of that chemical in water. There are still trace amounts that could have a negative impact on your health as you consumer water over a period of time.

The best solution to this problem is to acquire a quality water filter or purifier. These are capable of removing the most odor, dirt and troublesome chemicals (like lead and mercury) that plague water supplies across the country. Additionally, they can remove some waterborne microorganims like cysts and giardia.

Some devices are better than others at removing certain contaminants but the point is that you need to looking in the direction of home water treatment.

Now you might be thinking, why not just get bottled water. Well, most bottled water goes through a filtration process and is cleaner than tap. But as convenient as bottle water is, buying lots of it can be expensive, a hassle to carry and possibly unhealthy.

Harmful chemicals in the plastic bottle, like bisphenol-A are often transferred from the plastic bottle into the water. Some experts argue that this can have a negative affect on your endocrine system and fertility.

While these health effects are being debated, why not ensure that at least in your home, you have access to a glass of pure drinking water via your water purifier. Drinking water from a glass is the safest way to consume water as opposed to plastic bottles.

But let me warn you that choosing the right water purification system for your budget and water condition can be a daunting task. There are so many filtering technologies on the market; reverse osmosis, ultraviolet purifiers, distillation etc. You are gonna need help in deciding the best one to get.

You'll need to do some research and seek help from people or websites informed in this area. Don't make the mistake of just buying the first water filter you see. After all, you want to give your family pure drinking water, right.

We review various water filtration systems and found the best water filters that remove the highest amounts of contaminants, making your water super clean and healthy to drink. More details: http://www.best-water-filter-guide.com
