In this day and age, there are so many options when it comes to dating. You can find singles dancing around fueled on liquid courage, browsing the romance novels at a local book store or coding some program on their laptop in a coffee shop. When it comes to geek singles, you need to change your approach to making contact. You may be wondering, why would I want to date a nerd if they're awkward and weird?

Geeks make great partners because while they may be awkward at times, they mean well. So what if they make you a Valentines Day card full of memes instead of buying you a regular greeting card. It's the thought that counts. Also, when you find your geek you basically get lifetime tech support. Most geeks can figure out anything that plugs into the wall or has a motherboard. Another great reason to date a geek is that they try.

Geeks want the relationship to work, possibly because they don't know when they'll ever get another try. I would definitely appreciate someone spending hours in Photoshop just to make me smile. Romance is something geeks know all about. So if you want to be swept off your feet (not literally because they probably lack the strength to do so), meeting a nerd is a must!

How you meet your geek all depends on how much time you want to invest. I suggest signing up at a geek dating site first. Since geeks are usually on the computer, there is a high chance that they'll be online now. If you're new to online dating, I've written several articles on how to use it, dos and do nots, and messaging tips for more replies. Other places to meet geeks are at Cosplay/Star Trek/Star Wars conventions, in online games like World of Warcraft, or "nerdy" sites like reddit.

Geeks require a special touch when attracting them and keeping them. As mentioned before, geeks are a bit shy and awkward. They're intimidated by the whole approach a girl and get rejected scenario, so they'd rather not try at all. So, you'll have to make the first move. Like anyone would be, they'll appeciate the gesture and be flattered.

Once the ice is broken and s/he feels comfortable talking with you, take it to the next level. And I don't mean sex just yet. Ask him to teach you about computers. It doesn't matter what you happen to ask about, geeks can teach you about anything. Keep asking questions and to explain what they're talking about. You'll see genuine excitement when they talk about anything techy.

Let's revisit the whole social aspect of geeks. Geeks aren't going to be too comfortable around your non-geek friends. The opposite is also true, your non-geeky friends may not be too comfortable around him/her either. You should plan your dates to be just you two. As the relationship begins to grow, bring in mutual geek or tech-savvy friends. This will allow your geek to become acclimated to an environment that includes you and friends, so he'll be more comfortable once other friends come around.

I hope that this guide has helped you understand the species known as geeks. You start your mission for finding a geek by joining this geek dating site. Don't forget to check out my other articles for online dating to help you navigate the geeky waters.
