Wonderful memories of time spent with the family dog are the stuff happy childhoods are made of. Here are 5 breeds that are known for getting along well with children.

English Springer Spaniel---This is a high energy dog that will love being part of the family. It loves to run and chase so they are the perfect dog for children who seemingly never tire. They are very intelligent and excel at obedience and agility training. They are loyal, trustworthy, and eager to please.

They have beautiful medium length coats, and they shed regularly. They generally grow to be between 19 and 21 inches high, and weigh approximately 50 pounds. Careful attention to their coats is recommended to keep it from becoming matted and tangled.

Old English Sheepdog---This lovable giant of a dog is affectionate, easy going, and easy to please. They love to play with children and will be protective of them. There natural instinct is to herd, so make sure that very young children don't get knocked down as part of the herding process.

They have long coats which shed seasonally. They usually grow to be approximately 22 inches tall and weigh in at 65 pounds.

Saint Bernard---Another gentle giant, this is the type of dog that starred in the 1992 movie Beethoven. These dogs are extremely patient and gentle with children especially little ones. They are harder to train than most other kinds of dogs. So the patience that he shows to children must be passed on by you when trying to teach these lovable dog new things.

They have a thick coat which sheds a lot of hair constantly. But they only need minimal grooming. They grow to be about 28 inches tall and weigh anywhere from 120 to 180 pounds.

Toy Poodle---One of the smartest breeds, this little dog packs a lot of personality. He is fun, energetic, loyal, and easy to train. He loves people and is especially good with children. He also will get along well with other pets.

Their coats are medium in length and need very little in the way of grooming. They hardly shed, and they grow to 10 inches in height and weigh about 8 pounds.

Golden Retriever---Golden is often their color, but this color describes the sunshine that they will bring into your life. These wonderful dogs are gentle, fun-loving, loyal, and kind. They are eager to please, easy to train, and will love you and your children for the rest of their days.

They have a medium length coat that sheds golden strands constantly. They do need to be brushed and detangled occasionally to keep their coats looking beautiful. They grow to a height of 24 inches, and weigh about 75 pounds.

Regardless of the personality that is typical of the breed standard, individual dogs have different personalities. Interacting with the dog that you are considering several times will help you decide whether the dog will be a good fit for you and your children.

More people have gone into outer space than have seen the bottom of the sea; scientists who do go on deep dives routinely discover tens or hundreds of brand new, never before seen animals. If squirrels are causing havoc in your attic in the winter months, setting a trap is the easiest and most humane way to get rid of them. In a majority cases of squirrel infestation in the attic or in the roof space, the rodent is a female who is either looking for a safe place to give birth or to raise her litter.

What is known about bigfins is that their arms are all the same length, which is unique for cephalopods; normally they vary, and some serve different purposes. These animals look completely different from all other previously discovered squids; it's hypothesized that the strange bend in their arms helps to prevent the extremely long appendages from tangling with one another.

  • What Is The Baird's Tapir? (Robert Nickel)
Some animals are fairly easy to classify into families and orders. A chihuahua and a wolf may be very different in size, but they're both quite clearly dogs. Jaguars, lions, tigers, and ocelots all belong to the feline group. Even warthogs and common pigs can be placed side by side and the commonalities become clear. So when you see a tapir, with its protruding lower back, hoofed feet, and flexible proboscis mouth, what genus does it belong to?
