Choosing an eco-friendly air purifier means you receive the benefits of air that is constantly filtered of harmful airborne pollutants like dust, dust mites, pet dander, pollen, allowing you to breathe the cleanest possible indoor air in your home or office.

Selecting an air purifier that is eco-friendly also means that you are doing your part, and the purifier has been designed to do its part by leaving less of a footprint on the environment.

Here are 3 important features to look for to insure that the air purifier you select is effective as well as eco-friendly.

1. Choose Biodegradable Filters--Check to make sure that the filters are completely biodegradable. This means they are more easily able to disintegrate into natural materials, don't contain harmful chemicals, and thus that won't harm the earth or pollute our water.

Biodegradable filters are usually made of nontoxic polypropylene which release only carbon dioxide and water as they decompose. And because polypropylene is waterproof, the filter naturally resists contamination from bacteria, viruses, and mold without use of chemical additives or washes.

The fact that polypropylene naturally resists biological contaminants is a huge advantage both in your home and when it reaches your local landfill.

2. Look for the Energy Star--One way to make sure the purifier you choose is energy efficient is to look for the Energy Star Seal of Approval. This serves as proof that the cleaner has been recognized by the United States Environmental Protective Agency (EPA) as being superior by consuming less energy than other room air purifiers in the same class.

And it follows that less energy consumption means conserving our natural resources. And a more immediate perk is that it ultimately costs less to improve your indoor air quality. And knowing that it costs less is a positive reward for filtering the air in your home 24 hours a day--which is what need to happen for it to be effective.

3. Choose a Lifetime Warranty--A lifetime warranty on the purifier is an indication that the purifier is well made and will stand the test of time. It is also an great indicator that the manufacturer stands behind its product.

So rather than having to replace a disposable purifier every one to two years, you have a product that is reusable indefinitely. This becomes one less product to clog our landfills, less of a demand to use natural resources to manufacture new one, and less money out of your pocket. And there's no down side to any of that is there?
