If you love pets you know they come with odor. And if there is a urine problem as well, you need an air purifier that can stay ahead of the smell. Avoiding cleaners with these 5 features will help you choose a unit that will really eliminate the odor for good.
No Carbon---Because it is so well known for its ability to absorb gases, odors and chemicals, a cleaner for odor that does not have carbon is not going to work. To be effective, choose a purifier with at least 15 pounds of activated carbon from coconut shells. The harder the carbon the better the absorption rate is. Carbon from coconut shells is particularly hard and as such is more effective.
No Additive For Ammonia---As effective as carbon is at absorbing gaseous pollutants, it will still need help if it is to successfully absorb urine odor day in and day out. Choose a filter that has an additive that will enhance carbon's ability to remove this ammonia- based odor. Otherwise the smell will persist.
One Filter---Because pets generate hair, dander, dust, and odor, it is impossible for one filter to eliminate all. Instead look for a canister of filters that contain both a carbon filter and filter designed to remove particles. A large and medium particle pre-filter will eliminate those airborne particles that you can see. These filters will also prolong the life of the smaller particle filter which your unit should have---the HEPA.
HEPA or high efficiency particle arresting filters are essential in a pet air purifier because it is capable of removing the dander (dead skin flakes), as well as the bacteria and viruses that often attach to larger particles and spread disease and infection.
One Speed---When life comes at you fast you need a cleaner that can keep up. Life doesn't always move at the same speed and neither should your air cleaner. Choose a purifier that allows you to choose the rate at which your air is filtered.
For normal days a low speed is usually fine. For days when there are more smells or particles in the air, being able to literally crank up the speed to medium or high will help keep the air smelling fresh and clean.
Plastic Case---Many plastic air purifiers tend to off-gas fumes once the motor heats it up. The last thing you want to do is to pay money to pollute your air. That's why steel cases are best. There is no chance of off-gassing with a steel unit. And there is also virtually no chance that your pet can chew off a piece of the unit and be injured or choke on it.

More pets and animal articles: - How Important Pet Insurance Is (Michelle Hopkins)
A look at the importance of getting pet insurance - The Megamouth Shark (Robert Nickel)
More people have gone into outer space than have seen the bottom of the sea; scientists who do go on deep dives routinely discover tens or hundreds of brand new, never before seen animals. Also, if you're game for going down in history as the discoverer of something brand new, then keep an eye out for the Megamouth Shark while you're on vacation. - How To Get Squirrels Out Of Your House For Good (Henry Tattingstone)
If squirrels are causing havoc in your attic in the winter months, setting a trap is the easiest and most humane way to get rid of them. In a majority cases of squirrel infestation in the attic or in the roof space, the rodent is a female who is either looking for a safe place to give birth or to raise her litter. - Pet Allergies and Air Quality (Lawrence Reaves)
Although there are many allergies people suffer from that are caused by the consumption of food and drink, there are a lot of allergies that come from allergens that are airborne. - The Red Coats Are Coming to Williamsburg-Red Fox Kits Coming Into Color! (Richard Marquette)
Wildlife officials expect that red fox sightings will increase over the summer in Williamsburg and along the Chesapeake Bay. - Bigfin Squid: A Mystery of the Deep (Robert Nickel)
What is known about bigfins is that their arms are all the same length, which is unique for cephalopods; normally they vary, and some serve different purposes. These animals look completely different from all other previously discovered squids; it's hypothesized that the strange bend in their arms helps to prevent the extremely long appendages from tangling with one another. - What Is The Baird's Tapir? (Robert Nickel)
Some animals are fairly easy to classify into families and orders. A chihuahua and a wolf may be very different in size, but they're both quite clearly dogs. Jaguars, lions, tigers, and ocelots all belong to the feline group. Even warthogs and common pigs can be placed side by side and the commonalities become clear. So when you see a tapir, with its protruding lower back, hoofed feet, and flexible proboscis mouth, what genus does it belong to? - Suggestions On Using Dog Backpacks (Brent McCoy)
Here are a few helpful pieces of information you should be aware of about dog backpacks...
